ooh how lovely. Thank you in advance :j
I seriously am starting to cut back on food intake and do a lot more walking from Tuesday. I feel pretty yuk, and also am fed up with myself comfort eating and drinking. So I'm going to stop it.
It's the only way

Near disaster here, thank god I noticed this today!!
Haven't changed vehicle address to here it would appear, so haven't got tax or MOT reminder!....it all runs out this week......so will have to stay up one day and go get it taxed Asap with current MOT, then try to get it MOT'd within the next week (not easy when at work as garages don't seem to open at weekends). Then send off registration book with new address.....then get it serviced.
I could have been driving around illegally!!
It'll be illegal now in a way as not registered to this new address.....wouldn't you think they would just do it when you change your license, except that would make life too easy wouldn't it.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
Will the currrent MOT be valid on the day the new tax starts? If not I think you will have to get the MOT done first.
I know one year they wouldn't let me tax mine as the MOT ran out the day before the tax but that was when you did it at the Post Office so it might be different, worth checking though.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Can you tax the car online or must you have the letter from Swansea?0

Yep MOT I have now will be in date. I think I have to have the letter to do it online. I have however found a local post office that opens from 6am-8pm...!....and is open on a sunday morning according to their website...So I can wizz there in the morning before I go out.
Phew.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
If you haven't got the reminder you can get a number off the log book to tax it online.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140

But they would send it to the old address as it stands now, so i'll have to do it at a PO and then change address sending log book off.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
All hints welcome I'm sure by many of us on kicking comfort eating and drinking.
I don't do comfort eating myself. Fortunately I'm not very keen, by and large, on the type of foods that are "comfort eaten". I like my food healthy...so I'm safe there.
On the other hand....I could do with hints on kicking comfort drinking. I'm not anyone's definition of a heavy drinker, but it wasn't a good idea when it started being touted as a "civilised thing to have wine with dinner". It was easy for me to turn that round into "The one 'civilised' thing I can afford is wine. So, if I cant have a gite in France, be a regular visitor to delicatessens, shop in John Lewis regularly, etc - I can at least have the wine part of that lifestyle", so I have. I doubt I can afford wine at the moment anyway, until the rest of my pension kicks in at last and I stop swearing at the Government each month for nicking half my pension before I even get it (that revised State Pension Age malarkey...).
The house is nearly as finished as its going to be for the time being (my savings having taken a very heavy swipe later:mad::() so should be able to generally have a more "civilised" lifestyle all round and will feel free-r to drop the one bit I've been able to access so far. Joking with a friend that "We've become ladies who lunch have we?" the other day and think I might be able to persuade myself a regular "ladies lunch" with wine only then is enough and forget about buying any wine for at home.
BTW - chicken talk again. I've been told on another thread that chickens "will sell their little soul for grapes". Am going to be pricing up grapes next time I go shopping....:rotfl:.0 -
Calicocat - hope the trip to the Post Office is successful. I always used to take the wrong part of my insurance paperwork so was really glad when I started renewing online. Fingers' crossed for no issues at the MOT too.
MITSTM - so pleased for you that you can now have a rest from the renovations. It is so tiring when everything in the house is in upheaval and the dust - it gets everywhere - for weeks after work stops too.
Byatt - welcome back to sunny Devon!! The County Show was only cancelled for the last day and they were saying that the first two days had gone really well and traders were fairly happy. Glad to hear you enjoyed a good visit with LB and her girls.
I ate too much yesterday too. I think it was the weather. It is so depressing when all it does is rain. I don't mind so much if it rains when I am in work though! I guess I need to join the diet too. I also need to check out the farm shop you mentioned last year, Byatt, as the cherries were back in the supermarket yesterday I noticed ...
Today I'm off to the garden centre to see if I can get some glass to repair my greenhouse (damaged by the frisbee water butt lid). I am told that they keep standard sizes at garden centres. Singlie house ownership seems to be just one job after another ...
Had a disturbed night last night. Fluffy oldest boy cat waited until I was in bed then brought a squealing bird in. I rescued it and put it in the greenhouse. Went back to bed and he brought a second one in. Checking this morning, the first one is ready to fly away (I've left the door open) but the second was just a baby that he obviously took out of a nest. It didn't make it through the night - but wouldn't have survived long anyway without the parent birds. I hate that part of being cat staff.
Have a good day everyone. I hope the sun shines on us all for at least part of the day.

The chickens will certainly sell their souls for sweetcorn...this morning, I was naughty, and waited for the two top hens to be in the nest box, and then I hung out a cob of corn. The two lower chickens had a whale of a time, with no one bullying them off it. They'll be sick
I will try them with grapes but not at the price they are at the moment. I keep looking at the reduced section, but have no intention of giving them furry grapes....who buys furry grapes??
Well, it's sunny here at the moment, so hopefully that will give the run a chance to dry out. It's absolutely disgusting for them. I'm currently making plans for a hen run extension in the autumn, with more of the current run under cover. Will cost a bit, though, and less room for veges
Right, shower time, then hitting the road to meet Calicocat, who is taking my clothes buying into hand...I hate clothes buying, Calico loves it...let's see who drives the other mad first, shall we? :rotfl:
And I don't have any money...
Have a good'un folks!
