    Hello folks...!

I have been MIA, been really busy at work, plus had the flipping lurgy...still got the lurgy and feel done in.

Anyhow, hope everyone is well and I shall be doing some catch-up reading now I feel more in the land of the living...slightly. Nothing much to report here at calicocat HQ as been in a bit of a beachams coma and have done nothing.

The house projects have gone on the back burner, not just because i've been under the weather..but i've decided I haven't decided what I want to do with it.......so back to square one with that...! Not that it matters really, as I reckon it takes a good year of living somewhere to work out a place and what you want.

The whole wardrobe thing is a stumbling block for me at the moment, but I now have an idea for the dining room that will be both cheaper and movable...plus would have secret storage......it's now just a matter of finding it.

SO....due to doing nothing so far, I still have the monolithic mahoosive black glass wardrobes in my bedroom...which it appears Asbo-cat has only just noticed today. Well, that's not strictly true, she's just noticed they are glass...and therefore a bit like a mirror. She spent around half an hour this morning on the bed doing a brilliant meer-cat impression.....on back legs, head on a stalk, eyes massive, growling, and looking disturbingly paranoid.......it was well funny.....she actually looked at a combination of her own and my reflection for about half an hour...!???......idiot cat.

Right, off for a bit of a catch-up read.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
  • Evening all. Haven't been around for a few days so am going to go back now and catch up, but before I do hugs to anyone who wants them, sympathy for anyone lurgified and well done to all who have achieved something (no matter how small), or are generally just feeling good :D

I'm hoping to be really tired when my head hits the pillow tonight as last night I had one of the worst nights sleep ever

Woke up at 2 with a head so heavy and full of the green stuff I couldn't breathe, tried lots of different ways of lying, snaffled the pillows from the other side of the bed (one of many advantages of being a singlie :rotfl:) and tried to sleep sitting up - it just wasn't happening. Eventually gave in, got up, had a hot lemon drink and went back to bed. Ten minutes later decided I really need the loo so had to get up again. Back to bed, breathing better, but couldn't get comfy. I've felt my sciatica coming on for a couple of days and it was getting worse, so back up out of bed to get a hottie to try to ease it. It helped and around 4ish I finally fell back to sleep, only to have a really bizarre dream (nothing rude :naughty:).

I dreamed that I was on holiday with my sisters at the local leisure centre (except it was awfully posh, which it isn't, and it doesn't have any rooms either). Our room was near the bowling alley (they don't have one). I lost my sisters and couldn't find our room because I couldn't find the (non-existent) bowling alley. I ended up in the kitchen and the Tetly tea men were there, I asked them for some hot water for my lemon drink but they were mean and wouldn't give me any because I drink Yorkshire tea, I cried. It was all downhill from there...:(

So when the hottie stopped working and I couldn't breathe again, I threw the towel in just after 5 and got up. I've coughed, sneezed and snurched through work (got on my own nerves so heaven help the rest of them), but DD and DS have now gone to their dads so I can have a lie in tomorrow if I need to.

Anyway here's to the weekend :j

Having just read the comments about internet dating I must confess to having done quite a bit myself a few years ago. My sister had a theory that I only picked men who it would be impossible to have a proper relationship with (several living over 100 miles away, including one in France).

However I did become something of a serial first dater, different date almost every Friday night for about 18 months (I was much younger then and had clothes that fitted me). This led to me being given a nickname at work which I used as my password for the networked computer system. All was fine until they installed a new server and to connect us to it the IT guy came round to sort each of us out but needed to know our password. How embarrassed was I to mumble very quietly "man magnet" to which he replied very loudly "and is man magnet all lower case?" Still, I suppose it gave everyone a laugh :rotfl:

Although it didn't go anywhere with the man in France (for obvious reasons, me with two small children in England, him working in France with children in Edinburgh) we are still good friends and I did meet some other very lovely chaps, along with some very peculiar ones

Unfortunately you can't believe everything you read on someones profile. The first site I joined brought up my ex as a perfect match because he was thoughtful, generous, loving faithful etc, despite the fact that he had lied, cheated and had an affair for almost 2 years since DS was 6 months old. Take it all with a pinch of salt and see what happens if you meet someone. Good luck

Well I have been coughing and spluttering my way through the night...even tried some weird myth about putting vicks vaporub on your feet and it stops you coughing....!!??.......lol. Still coughed...but have very soft feet now.

I have had hardly any sleep, so may have to shut blackout curtains (had left them open to make me get up and clean the house) and have some sleep during the day if I can.

RE: the dating sites......I don't want to put a downer on it for people, but just be careful to not believe what you read, never done it myself but have had a lot of friends stung by this. I have looked at the blokes on them at friends houses though.......and every time happened upon someone I know...who is either married, engaged, or living with someone. A friend of mine fell for this bloke....who had a long term girlfriend of 17yrs.....it turned out after some detective work and a bit of what could be classed as possibly stalking.....still, at least she found out in the end.

I don't mean to put anyone off, just tread careful with it.

Well, i'm hungry now so off to get some eggs and soldiers I think and take it back to bed along with some more beachams.

Hugs to anyone else with the lurgy....it's a right pain in the jacksie.

    Morning All

I haven't slept well either...so thank goodness it is Saturday. It's soaking wet outside, so naturally this is the day the chicken run is to start being built :o . Ah well, will see how far "we" get...but at least we're starting. I was too excited to sleep :rotfl:

I'm thinking of doing the 5:2 diet. Anyone doing that? Any advice? I'm hoping it will focus my mind on eating a bit less, and think Mons and Weds would be my best days.

On the Dating site subject, I don't honestly think it's any different to meeting blokeys in a pub. They can lie then, too, if they want to. One blokey has said he's read my bit blurb but now he wants to know what I REALLY want from him...:D em...nothing....delete. Another in the middle of the night, sent me a poem along the lines of the boy stood on the burning deck....:D em..hmmm...delete, though I was poised to send one back :rotfl:

Ah good grief. I have to say you need a lot more than a pinch of salt, but it's given me a good laugh at times, and my deleting finger and button has been very busy this week. :rotfl:

I only took out a month's subscription, and strongly suspect I'll be knocking it on the head, but hey! I had to try even if just to see what the fuss is about. I just don't meet nice unattached blokeys in real life, so I guess that's me a singlie for ever, which isn't the worst thing in the world, but sometimes, I'd like someone special.

So, I think it's me, the FurryPurries and the chickens-to-be against the world then. It could be worse!

Have a good'un, Singlies! Catch yer all later.

    xx

Do we get photos of the first time the furry purries meet the chickens-to-be?:rotfl:My mind is boggling picturing that meeting......am picturing the furries with their faces bang up against the "dividing wall" looking alternately hopeful and puzzled.

Mind you...I guess a lot of us have watched that Internet video about the cat and budgie who are best friends and the budgie was taking full advantage of the fact by trying its luck to see whether the cat would react to it in the end...real "if I peck you half a dozen times, then surely you will react to me?". That was one longsuffering cat...:rotfl:

On the dating front...as you say "Any man anywhere can lie and it doesn't make any difference whether its Internet or ITRW". Well, its been an experience I guess and we must all have been on the receiving end of some of that one way or another during the course of dating.
  • Morning LavenderBees, sorry you have rain for your construction project. Given the weather this winter, sure you're not building an ark?! Here the sun is trying to come out so the washing machine is currently churning the bedding so that will go on the line in a while.

I tried the 5:2. Last summer/autumn it was successful and I lost 16lbs, but I gave it up over the winter (does anyone else get really hungry when it's cold?) and put some of it back on. Planning to go back on it again soon though. Once you've done a few fast days you don't seem to get that hungry on fast days. You can only try it and see if it works for you.

I think my problem is that I don't move around enough so I'm trying to convince myself to do half an hour of something in front of the telly (probably Zumba) before work a couple of times a week. This could fit in with the fact that, since changing my job, I decided to change my housework habits. I now start work half an hour later and it is only 5 minutes from home. So, rather than sit and watch breakfast tv I decided to get up, clean a few rooms, then shower and get ready for work. It is amazing the difference to the house since, to be honest, housework is not my passion so it rarely got finished. I love the fact that I basically have no housework to do at the weekends (although I still have to excavate the kitchen table!). So now I am telling myself that if I could cram all the housework into three quick sessions then the other two days I could exercise. That's the theory, next week is when I aim to start ...

I'm having a rare excursion today and going to meet a friend for coffee so, happy weekend everyone!

Well, I have never been so cold in all my life!!

Being the HandyMan's mate and standing still most of the time, passing him bits and pieces as needed meant I was thoroughly chilled in the rain and cold, and I'm still freezing now, an hour after getting home, lighting the fire, cuddling a hwb, and drinking lots of tea. Going to have a hot soaky bath as soon as the water is heated. Soon, I hope!!

So, we got the wood, and the chicken run frame is up, and we also spent some time working out next steps, and I've now finally ordered my hen house and some bits and pieces, and I'm too excited for words. It's been 9 long years of waiting to get my chickens again, and I can hardly believe it's so close now. Still lots of hard work for my handyman to do, and we need to do some shopping for "stuff" but we're well on the way :T

There'll be no meeting of pusses and chickens, I'm afraid. The allotment is a few minutes walk away, and mine are house cats, so no chance of meeting. In the past, though, I have had cats, a dog and free range chickens together, and they all quickly learned to respect each other and give space.

    Whoop whoop!

Yay....how exciting!!..how many chickens will you get, and what type?.....and what will you name them?.....

OR....you could post pics on here and we could do a whole naming thing.

I rescued a fish a few years back from work tank as for some reason the others were picking in it all the time , anyhow, it just got called 'fish'...so when I got it a friend I called that 'chips'. Not my most inventive naming session I grant you, and don't let that put you off.....lol.

Are there any famous chickens?...may have to google this.

Weather has been pants here, and I feel like someone has stuffed my head full of cement, so have been watching recorded programs most of the day, have earache, and may go to bed soon for another beachams coma.
