Sorry, Mum2One, for the loss of your uncle. I'm glad your dad got to see him.

I'm somewhat quiet, partly through exhaustion and partly because of poor internet connection where I'm pet sitting. You know the kind where if you move a mm...you lose the one bar that's just about keeping you connected...imagine standing on one foot, leaning out the window, balancing a cuppa and a lappy...and not daring to move or breathe too heavily. :rotfl:

Well, the good news :T, I have bought a Ka...pick it up on Saturday...private seller from fleabay, after I decided garages were not looking out for my best interests whatever they said. It's a 2003, just 50,000 miles, MOT for a year (well feb now), and 6 months tax. So fingers crossed all is well, I have test driven it. Did all the right things, like looking under the bonnet...:rotfl: Yep, engine's there...

It's such a learning curve, I have found out that my insurer wants me to pay £169 (I pay monthly), because I have claimed so no just cancelling. If I go through them then they will "see what they can do"...plus although dealt with quickly, every day I have had an email, phone call or text...this morning a company rang me to say they were doing the valuation on my Skud, and it was a write off...and I said, but I've already been paid...to say they were shocked was an understatment. So where is the communication with anyone? It baffles me.

Anyway, I'm tired, so must stop moaning because I will feel better in the morning when less tired and achy. :o

Pouring with rain here! It's like winter.
  • A bit late but please accept my condolences too, Mum2One. Even when expected, it is a shock.

Byatt - delighted to hear about your new (to you) car. I hope it is as good as it sounds. Yes, winter is back so I have turned the heating back on.

So pleased you have found a car Byatt.

Typically as winter is moving in possibly I have spent the day changing duvets to summer ones and packing the others away. However it took so much ruddy work i'm not changing it again no matter what the weather....if it gets bad I will survive with hot water bottles.....it does bizarrely have a bit of a winter feel tonight though.

Still on a weather theme it must have been warmer though....all new seeds sown have shot away apart from the dreaded tomato ones.

Not that I have a clue how long it should take, but the thyme seeds have even been busy this week and got some shoots.

I'm fine with the seed and shoot bit, it's what to do with them after that....a learning curve...in my house it's 'do or die'.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Greenbee, your builders sound wonderful. I'm working on taming one who's moved into this area, but unfortunately he managed to fall off a roof recently so he's out of action for a bit. (Fortunately for me, it wasn't my roof he fell off, and fortunately for him his injuries aren't serious.)

My electricians are pretty wonderful too - they've given me a whole lot of numbers and they also got a window company to call me :) So I've made progress today as I've sorted out pest control to come and shut the jackdaws out of the the roof, arranged for someone to come and look at the loo/bathrooms, and left a message with the plumber to hopefully come and deal with the random bits of heating/plumbing that need doing.

Tomorrow I need to get hold of a roofer (I really hope your guy gets better soon...) as apparently my rood has leaked in the past and I need to check the outside to make sure it has been fixed properly, and also call the guy who clears gutters to get mine done and have them adjusted where they are wonky/leaking.

I've also found out that I might be eligible for free cavity wall and loft insulation from my energy provider, so need to book a survey.

At the moment I'm still clearing up after the builders, but the house is starting to feel like things are coming together.
