Who else supermarkets in 5+ stores a fortnight?

When I worked very long hours I chose one supermarket and did all my shop there. Time was valuable so it was worth the extra costs.
Now I have a bit more time I shop around but I won't drive to a load of shops as fuel costs are far too high for that.
I've decided Aldi is the best value so I drive there (about 2 miles) and then stop in Sainsbury's on the way back (round trip) for a small top up (getting smaller by the week). Then we have a small shopping centre near me where I stock up on things (perhaps monthly) from Farmfoods, Iceland, Asian stores. I go to Lidl (3 miles) a few times a year for DH's favourite muesli and Asda occasionally pop in when I'm buying fuel. If I'm right across the other side of town with work I'll go to Morrison's as I like their fish counter but I'd never make a special trip. When I pass little Co-ops I look to see if any YS items but otherwise I think they're really expensive.0 -
It wouldn't be economical for me. I live in a large town, that has all the main supermarkets, but my nearest is Tescos, so that's what I stick with. I have a busy/demanding full-time job, and value the free time I do have more than the couple of quid I might save by shopping around a bit more.
As I say, I do my main shop in Tesco, which is a 5 minute drive. And on the occasional Friday I walk to a Waitrose a few minutes walk from me to get something special for my Friday tea.
Fair play to the people who play the system by shopping around, but it isn't for me.Because it's fun to have money!

I meal plan and shop online, avoids buying things I don't need.
If I went in four or five shops I am sure I would find two or three things to 'try' or that might be 'useful', that would obliterate any savings I might have made.
I am safer away from them!!0 -
how do you know what is the ' best bargain ' unless you go to each shop , compare prices then go back to buy the cheapest?
You get to know who does what cheapest
And for special offers (on brands) you usually find they all have the same offer or a variant of it - and if they don't now they will next week
You do have to accept you are not going to get it 'right' all the time0 -
I am a supermarket hoar but in a different way.
I do my main shop at the biggest supermarket near me. Its my least favourite supermarket tbh, but its the one with the biggest range locally.
Then I tend to know the sort of things I like from other supermarkets and go in them when I am passing them, having planning my week somewhat and knowing what I am likely to need /want.
This can vary from a couple of times a year from one shop to 'passing that one so worth popping in to see their reductions for my freezer'
Be cause we don't buy all that much ready made food this works quite well for us I think.
When we lived ina city I did a sort of light version of this.
I don't work, but petrol is dear and I HATE shopping.
Edit: fwiw, there is stuff here that I cannot get and comes home from London. But DH likes to walk and tries not to use his oyster during the week, unless he's got more time than usual and can go further afield.

We generally shop in Asda because for what we buy it is cheaper, I have experimented in every shop relatively near to us but Asda definitely saves us money - though i refuse to shop online with them as it's shockingly bad!
Our top ups come from Morrisons though as its a 2minutes walk away.Everything is always better after a cup of tea0 -
I don't have the time to float between shops within a week or two and they are too far apart to make ot cost effective anyway. I do vary which supermarket gets my online order to make the most of each one's offers. Also if I don't use one for a while they get upset and send me vouchers
I do my regular weekly shop in Lidl but it so annoys me that they don't sell large skim milks. I picked milk up when I was visiting my girl today about 5 miles away as their co-op is doing 3 bottles for £3 whereas it is 1.52 in my local co-op. I am really peed off about this disparity.
I also like to pop into Morrisons if I am passing but it isnt on my regular route. Latelt, however, they haven't seemed to have had spo many BOGOFS."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

We are in a town (it was a village, it's that small but they built a town hall so now we are a town) Old mining village and i'm lucky enough to have Tesco, Asda, Farmfooods, heron, co-op on the doorstep near enough a 10 min walk my daughter and i can do the lot (and we do) If you have them close use them, i'd never travel for the bargains but some of us are lucky enough to have them on our doorstep xxI will save my tesco £1 savings stamps this year! .......so far = £50 (full card#1)
Card #2 £6. I will not be skint at Chistmas this year!
Total £560 -
When ever I embark on any money saving endeavor, I first work out how much I will save, then I work out how long it will take me, then I ask myself.
Would I be better off doing an extra 2 hours overtime this week instead of spending 2 hours trying to make some savings?

I've always shopped around and made a purchase in here and another here in order to get the best deals. Tbh I rarely spend over £5 in one shop!
But I'll happily go to Tesco,Sainsbury's,Morrsions,Aldi,Lidl,Farmfoods and Asda all in 1 day to get the best bargains!
I can understand why some people only use one shop, there are a variety of reasons, for instance those who have mobility problems.
mums with small children, people who cant easily access a number of shops for instance my nearest Morrisons is a 45 min bus ride and tescos 40 mins the other way. and of course those who simply don't have time.
People have to do what suits them bestSlimming World at target0
