I am fortunate in that within a couple of miles radius of me there is a covered market, Asda (small), Tesco, Sainsbury, Aldi, Lidl - and I would visit all certainly within a fortnight. There's also Iceland, Farmfoods (loo roll!), Herons and Fultons and soon to be an M & S Food. I often walk between them and just pick up the best buys in each. The problem is that I have such a stash now I am having to limit my activity!

I do most of my weekly shopping in T's but I visit other stores every so often for things that are bargainous and not in T's. I use FB, B&M, £stretcher, Aldi and Asda but not weekly. It's more like every six weeks or so when I get enough in to last.

Things I don't get from Ts include chocolate, snacky things, most cleaning and personal hygiene products, batteries and various storecupboard things as they turn up in FB, B&M or £stretcher.

Given your username, I'd hazard a guess you're in London and have all of those supermarkets relatively nearby?

For me, the cost of driving to the nearest Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl, Farmfoods or Asda would likely outweigh any savings. We have a Tesco, Sainsburys and Iceland nearby - but to be honest, with the pricematching services, I tend to do one or the other. Generally Sainsburys would work out more expensive for the sort of products we buy on average (we mealplan so shopping list tends to be similar month on month) so it's mostly Tesco, unless we know of a particular deal that would be a good saving to us.

Same here. I only have a tesco here, with Morrisons and Aldi a 20min drive away (thats where i normally shop). If i wanted to go to any other supermarket, it would mean a 40min trip into the city. With the price of fuel and also parking, there is no point!
Also it would take me about 3 hours.

I'm one of those people that loves to pick up a few items in lots of different stores as well. Luckily I have Sainsburys, Waitrose, Morrisons and a market very close by so once a week I walk there and search out the bargains. Then I'll also walk in the other direction to work and combine that trip with visiting Tesco and Aldi. I also rarely spend more than a fiver in one go as I only have a maximum budget of 23 pounds a week. Very occasionally I might spend a bit more in one shop when I have a conditional spend voucher.

how do you know what is the ' best bargain ' unless you go to each shop , compare prices then go back to buy the cheapest?

I use MySupermarket to suss out the bargains - they've added Aldi now as well which makes it really easy to check prices. I can then arrange to drop in to a store when I'm in the area or going that way for other reasons.

as everyone has said most do price matching anyway . Maybe I just put too high a price on my time ?

I stop off a Lidl first, they probably do roughly half the things I need, then I go on to Sainsbury's for the rest of the main shopping and I pop into Iceland on the way home for a few specifics they only do there.

I drive and all three are en route so I don't use any extra petrol. It doesn't take tha much longer than if I only went to Sainsbury's, but it does save me £100+ a month over shopping at just Sainsbury's, £120+ a month if I shopped at just Tesco.

I don't have an Asda, Morrisons, or Aldi near enough to warrant using them.

I'm in the centre of a small city and don't have a car. I shop at Tesco, Lidl, Farm Foods, Iceland, £land, 99p Store, the market, and an independant greengrocer and an independant butcher.

This weekend I have been in Farm Foods twice, Lidl once and Iceland once, and to the greengrocer. I just nip in and out of places as I'm heading about other business. I was in a Sainsbury last Tues night near closing time (happened to be passing, nipped in for some teabags and got some YS goodies).

I have chronic fatigue syndrome, so have to budget my energy carefully, but given the retail resources available to me, I play the supermarkets off one against another. And I seldom spend more than £5 per store visit, often less than £3. Live very well on £66 per month average spend for groceries inc lots of stores in reserve.

I do work, but have about 1.5 hours left at the end of the day due to my part-time hours, so nip into shops on my way home. It suits me, but I appreciate that it's not going to be possible or desirable for everyone.

Exactly, me too. I work full time, run the house and look after our son after work. I'd rather do one shop and spend what little free time I do have with my family :)
