On a heartening note, I've heard that a scam-buster bidder received TWO warning messages from other Ebayers that the item they were bidding on was only a link. The item was another one of these with only a tiny mention at the bottom.0

I used to be an avid user of ebay - buying mostly until i was scmmed myself. I believe that you only get stung once and have been exceedingly cautious ever since. In my haste to buy the new T3 film i bought a copy from someone who had no ebay rating and sent them a postal order for payment - goods did not appear. I also bought a DVD recorder from germany but unfortunately it turned out to be a VCD recorder. I returned it but never got payment back although i sent it recorded - and it cost quite a lot. I then went to ebay who did nothing at all. I bombarded the company one day, when i was off sick, with emails and paypal reminders and eventually they coughed up. I think that is an extreme but the company changed their name due to me then contacting everyone who was about to purchase anything from them. Sometimes the worm turns and wins.....You cant take the trousers off an elephant!0

Can someone tell me what happens to bidders that don't pay for an item? Apart from negative feedback?
Can eBay do anything to stop buyers re-registering who have had there account closed?0 -

you've heard? ;)
Yes, I heard from a friend
Also heard from this friend that £10 postage was added afterwards to the auction-for-a-link on the invoice. Needless to say my friend won't be paying a penny of it ;D0 -

I've heard (again!) that it's possible to set up an ebay account using a hotmail email address and a completely fictitious postal address0 -
lets hope no one does this then0

Anyway, I thought that you had to add your account details when signing up. I've been a member for a while and when I signed up you had to do this. Has it changed?0

If non paying bidders gets three 'strikes' against their account then the account is automatically NARUd. By strikes I mean three NPB claims against them where FVF have been claimed back by the seller.
Sadly a number of sellers don't bother going through the whole NPB process which leaves some Non paying bidders free to keep bidding.
