Thanks you all for joining in with me! Just after looking at the above link......what can a seller do if I just bid for an item but then don't bother paying....leave negative feedback? This seems to be the only way of teaching them a lesson.....any suggestions?

    By The Way:

I have noticed that some people are concerned about the sellers finding out that you have reported their item. I have reported hundreds of items to eBay and not one seller has ever emailed me! I have on several occasions emailed the seller to let them know I reported their item, but they still didn't reply.

So at least now you know that by reporting an item the seller will never find out it was you!

I am sooooo tempted to set up a new Ebay ID to "win" this auction.  It blatantly flouts Ebay policies - misleading title, great big long description of an IPOD, then in tiny, tiny writing right at the very bottom it says it's a link.  Stands at £220 at the moment - plus £5 postage can you believe!  :o

    Anyone wanna bid?  ;)

It's just dawned on me. I could bid and win these auctions - in fact, in the auction I posted above, there was one obvious Scam-Buster bidder, but there's absolutely nothing to stop the seller sending second-chance offers to any and all unsuccessful bidders :-/
  • I have reported the link above regarding the IPOD for that ridiculous amount of money, and have also sent an email to the winning bidder, hoping I was not too late to let the poor person know of this blatant attempt at a rip-off.

Irrespective of whether Ebay regard such emails to potential and winning bidders as any sort of wrongdoing, it would be disgraceful of them to take any action in instances where, such as this, it is clearly an attempt at theft and extortion and it is left to us Joe Publics to try and keep the internet a safer place for everyone.

Well done hyperion. I'd reported it too, Ebay do act on these reports but not straight away....if it's a one-day auction ??? (which often they are, to avoid action by Ebay!).

The seller of that auction currently has a couple of others scam auctions - one for a laptop at £460, cleverly he's "kept ID private" for buyers :-X

£8 postage on that auction for Usless Information - what a bloody cheek!!!

This one is an old fashioned chain letter been doing the rounds for ages.

I really can't understand why people still bid though with that feedback..don't they read it?

I'm not sure it's allowed on ebay so I reported it anyway and hopefully ebay will take a look and decide for themselves.
