One other thing, it is unlikely that auctions for 'links' will be pulled if it is clear that no item is being auctioned. It is not actually against the rules to auction a link if that is clear from the listing and several people now posting these things state several times in the auction listing that it is for a link only. What beats me is that people still bid!
What is against the rules is to auction a TV or something and only deliver a link, it has to be clear what is being auctioned.

How do you know that it wouldn't hurt my account? You don't know who these people are?! there could be 1 or 2 who work for ebay but on the sly are doing this to make extra money! and on the sly can do things to jeapordise your account! Just like some of these shill bidders, they could have other addresses!
Don't trust no-one!!!Angel

Soo
Soo, Ebay state on the relevant Policy Page
"Listings of URLs that offer buyers the opportunity to purchase items outside of eBay are prohibited."
That's fairly clear to me that any auction selling only a link is not allowed.
This is the URL policy page; http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/catalogs.html0 -
Let's test Ebay.
I reported this one early this morning.
25 bids (all naive newbies) currently stands at £112 for a link to a :-X pyramid scheme, where you might, just might if you're really lucky get a laptop for £20......ends at 20.45 tonight....let's see if Ebay pull it in time!!!

I absolutely detest these auctions too. I've noticed a few dummy auctions just put on to give out the information that others are selling, with a buy it now of 0.01 and saying not to - bravo to those sellers!
I did a load last year selling at 99p ( ebay page would not let me do lower for buy it now) - but asking if the information was useful to give to charity rather than sending to me.
Had a few jokers ( likely those selling at £20+) bid and leave negs! , and then ebay kicked my adverts off for selling linksAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -

This link takes you to the relevant policy page about URL's. Towards the bottom, there is a link to report listing violations of this nature.
