Thanks for that. I'm afraid my suspicions are confirmed and it is indeed fake and a scam

Question posted on Sky facebook page "I've received an email about the FA Cup from "sky@skymail.sky.com" to an address not registered on my sky profile. Is this a valid sky email and am I ok to reply asking to be removed from the mailing list?"
Sky response "@Darren We don't recognise this email address.pb"
I ordered the free wirless booster direct from the sky site 2 days ago and the confirmation email came from 'sky@skymail.sky.com'.
With the post you linked to being almost 3 years ago, it's possible either it wasn't in use then, or the sky staff member wasn't aware of it.
With the link provided by jessicawshoscombe that has a verified sky twitter account linking a current comp to sky-competitions.com, it's either genuine or the most elaborate scam going.0 -
but why set up a whole new website for a single competition?
Why not sky.com/skydifference ?

It's very scary, if it is a scam... I think the worries stretch far deeper than just sharing our own details through that website: the level of detail this email has means that if it's a scam, someone has got the data from Sky.
Anyway... If they already have our details (name and email, which is all the comp form has as mandatory), then why got to the trouble of an elaborate form to ask for what they already have?0 -

I've also checked other emails I've received in the last few days from sky, and they are all 'something'@skymail.sky.com. For example 'sky', 'skytv', 'nevermiss'0

Just went to sky.com and logged into my email, closed that window then clicked on the link in the email to log into my sky, clicked on email again and I was logged in still so I do think it's valid.2014 wins - Jan - Series 3 of Trollied on DVD, Anchorman 2 goodies - Feb - Sushi Making Lesson for 1, £25 Pick Me Up Sudoku0

When I tried to enter without filling in the Postcode or ID box I got the following message:
"Please your postcode or Sky ID" so not very good English, again pointing to the possibility of this not being legitI have decided not to risk it

I've had the email through, and like a previous poster, it's come to the email I'm registered to Sky with, not my 'comping address'. Given it doesn't ask for much in the way of personal info, I would say it's genuine - but it's obviously up to you individually whether to trust this one :-)0
