I'm a Sky customer and have received no such email (yet)

I find it surprising (to say the least) that Sky would ask a small company with pretty crap assets/liabilities http://companycheck.co.uk/company/06720641/WXXT-LIMITED/company-summary to run a competition for them.

I fear this is only going to lead to phone calls with some company asking you to take out insurance on your Sky equipment

You should receive an email as a Sky customer eventually ;) - in the email it has copious links to the main Sky website, plus to all other areas (policies, FB/Twitter etc) which you wouldn't get in a scam email. Thank you for raising the issue maineblue :A, as it is good to be wary of mailings that seem too good to be true, but I can find no reason at all to doubt the authenticity of this comp.
    :D

Oh, I already get calls from Sky trying to get me to take insurance out on their equipment, so really I have nothing to lose ;) :rotfl: :rotfl:

Has anyone who isn't a Sky customer received this? As it's Sky customers only, then my suspicions would be raised, if non-Sky customers had received this.

The fact that it addresses me by my first name, and has the note at the bottom "This was sent to [jessicawshoscombe's email address]", makes me think it is possibly genuine.

Annoyed with myself for entering details before checking it out though. School girl error :wall:

I'm a Sky customer and have just received this email. It also addresses me personally by name and is from sky@skymail.sky.com. I'm pretty sure it's genuine.

Incidentally, for those that are entering, as the postcode / account no box seems optional, I would avoid putting anything in it, just in case...

    Done a bit more digging...

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4858688 is a thread from 3rd Jan, which was a Twitter comp based on https://www.sky-competitions.com

This Tweet from earlier today on the official @skyhd account links to a set of Ts and Cs for the Twitter comp, and those are on the sky-competitions.com domain.

Thanks for that. I'm afraid my suspicions are confirmed and it is indeed fake and a scam

Question posted on Sky facebook page "I've received an email about the FA Cup from "sky@skymail.sky.com" to an address not registered on my sky profile. Is this a valid sky email and am I ok to reply asking to be removed from the mailing list?"

Thing is, I've looked at the full original email (gmail -> show original)

This email has my sky ID embedded in it. My sky ID is unique. I quite literally use it nowhere but sky.

If it's spam, there's something afoot

But why are Sky advertising a competition based on that same web domain as this fake one, on their official Twitter feed? Confusing.
