Great to hear you're feeling brighter today and hope you made progress with your plans for today.
It's tricky when there's a channel of work that's exploitable but not necessary first choice, though could be the back up you need for now whilst the other areas are getting established. Can always reduce face to face work later on - or like a local lady here - train someone to take all the classes and she focuses on helping charities by training dogs for the blind.
Good news on the bit extra coming in from OH too.Back on the DFW Wagon:
CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/180 -
Mmmm - that's the thing Ali - it isn't immediately exploitable as I don't have good connections locally - all my major connections were up north. So I would have to build those contacts of do intensive advertising which I can't really afford. I do however have a growing online list of contacts - so the online is easier to exploit at the moment. Will have to look into what I can do locally to develop more local contacts. I do have some local clients just not large numbers.0

Morning Miz,
Hope you are feeling bright hand happy today.?
What are your plans for making up the negative this month?. Do you have anything you can #bay? I am virtually #baying the whole contents of our house at the moment. I am finding its nice to use it to make the odd extra payment during the quite periods of the month. Keeps my enthusiasm going.
With your 9 week ?? course. Do you have to wait until that is finished before you start another one? I was'nt sure if you could start rustling up the next batch of customers and get another course running along side it. I only have a slight grasp on what its all about, so tell me to shut up if I am talking rubbish.

Well up to now most of my work has been elsewhere - either hosted workshops or online - so local hasn't come into it a lot. I do occasional one-to-ones but to be honest they are my least favourite bit! My ideal would be to be earning enough from online courses and workshops to offer free small group work locally for rescues - so I can keep my hand in with hands on work but without the going to people's homes thing. But have a way to go before that!
Thinking about the advertising (but online, as you prefer) how do you make yourself known? The classic tip I've heard from people like Tim Ferriss is to join relevant forums and get yourself known that way. I haven't done it yet, and I need to up my game on the organisation of my website, but maybe you're at the stage where that would help?
I think you're at a certain doggy-related event today? :j Enjoy :j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi Mizmar,
I've popped over from the other thread to see how you are doing.
Hope thinks pick up soon.0 -
Thanks guys. Quick catch up here after being away yesterday - will try to get back on track over the weekend.
No pool balls on Freecycle yet Ali - but only a matter of time surely?!
Steph - not a stupid suggestion at all. I can't run it as is as the materials are released to the site gradually so would be on two timeframes - but more importantly I think - I would be overstretched. I currently spend 1-2 hours a day during the week supporting the course (over 18 weeks) and I think doing two would seriously limit the new developments I could do. BUT - I am planning to package and release the course without the support forum - as a stand alone "on demand" thing. I've resisted this as I think a lot of courses that are just content are a waste of time - people buy them and don't actually do them - and I don't want people to do that. I want people to actually consume the stuff! But I have some thoughts about how to encourage that - and now I have the membership going I can offer a "bonus" of free membership for a limited period to provide support from the group.
So my plans to make up the shortfall: get this up and running and hopefully promoted through a couple of popular sites (currently reviewing it). Arrange another workshop - I have asked the owner of the venue for dates but still waiting. Then yes I may need to do some eBaying and get back to Matched Betting.
Karma - yes - I tend to use Facebook and my website but I could comment more on forums etc. I should look at that. Thanks
Chanie - thanks for dropping by - sorry have been AWOL from the other thread - will try to catch up over the weekend.0 -
Posting just as a marker - I feel like I am burying my head in the sand at the moment regarding finances. Need to update YNAB and get a grip.
Some positive things happening business wise including agreeing a joint venture that will hopefully be very positive. But big expenses looming - dog in veterinary hospital and we will have to pay 20% excess (about £200) and dentist for crown today (£370). Need to start looking at other ways to make money this month - but I also need to get the stuff ready for the JV. :eek:0 -
Sorry to hear the dog's in doggy hospital
And good luck for yourself at the dentist today ...2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks Karma - hopefully it is going to confirm that he is all clear of dangerous heart problems so good really - though the others don't know what to do with themselves without him around.0
