Will I ever loose my pregnancy stomach now my baby is born?????

  • I guess everyone varies and maybe age plays apart?

I had my first child at 19 and my stomach was flat and back in my old size 8-10 clothes (although with stretch marks) by the time he was 3 weeks old and this was without trying, no exercise dieting nothing. So was kind of depressed when it took a good nine or ten months to go back to normal (this time normal was a size 10-12) after baby number two at 27yrs old, admittedly I didn't diet or exercise again. I am due baby number 3 in 5 weeks and hoping it will not take more then the 9 or 10 months it took last time.

Yes.... I don't mind having a wrinkly stomach as that can be covered with clothes and I would were a full piece swim suite... but the pregnant looking stomach is too much... 1 month is very soon to expect it all to go not I think about it.. .will ask at my 8week check when and what to do to get it down.. Will start some gentle stomach excerises and see how it goes.

That horse riding thing looks really good as you can watch TV at the same time.. while doing a complete stomach work out... how can you tell if it is not a gimich or not? Would be keen on getting one for the shed to use it as a gym... and I could spend the money on that instead of the gym. In the mean time I will look at the cheapest option of playing music while doing stomach excercises.

    thanks msers

HappySad- get out for a walk pushing the pram- it's free, great exercise, and apart from being stopped by people cooing over the baby is a great way to ease yourself back into exercise.

Doing aerobic exercise- enough to make you a little breathless- is the best way to lose weight, your tummy will shrink along with the rest of you. A good pilates DVD will help you tone up your tum- it's also nice and quiet and doesn't involve jumping up and down which would wake baba.;)

Happysad, im in the same boat as you, except im 7 weeks after having my son.

The rest of me is fine, but my tummy, looks like a deflated tyre and overhangs terribly !!

I had an emergency section, however I have decided that its not so bad when I look at my bubs, hes worth every stretch mark ( which I only got when I went overdue !!), and I wasent exactly slim before I got pregnant, so why do I expect to be after lol !!!.

My advice is get out and about, enjoy being a mum, and focus on the great things in life, us women are amazing, we have the ability to bring new life into this world, and that comes at a little price. You can exercise after your 6 week check up, and the exercises the hv gave me, seem to be helping just take it easy at first, I dident and boy does it hert !!

Mine went back to normal after two weeks, i guess I was lucky :D

You really need to do your stomach excercises and plenty of sit ups. Some women take longer to get back in shape some go back to normal straight away.

All you can do is keep looking after your body as well as your baby

I'm worrying about my stomach and am not even pregnant (yet!). Although the rest of me is fairly slim I have always had an issue with my stomach and spend all day trying to hold it in/hide it!

I did get a pilates DVD last year but it takes about an hour to get through so got fed up. I read an article on reducing your stomach in one of the sunday magazines a couple of weeks ago in which they recommended a Pilates DVD called 10 minutes Solution (from Amazon), each 10 minutes section is for a different part of the body. Now 10 minutes on the stomach (ignoring the rest!) I should be able to cope with! Not got round to ordering yet though.

Would love one of those rider things if the price comes down a bit :D

Ive always been overweight but before i got pregnant it was solid. Now its all wobbly, loose and even sags at the bottom  I cant shift it, I loose weight and it just looks looser? Although I suppose its the skin thats stretched so no matter how little fat is there theres still the same amount of skin maybe?

I dont know but it depresses me, I hate my body now. Its been 16mths since I gave birth and I still look the same as I did the wk after I gave birth!!!!

During preg my stomach muscles split and the bottom bit of my tummy was very loose, saggy and numb. Not sure if this has anything to do with why my tummys so bad now?
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.

Nooo. It's far too early for sit ups!

Take your time, relax, enjoy your baby. The baby has a great soft pillow to rest on and you need your strength so PLEASE don't diet yet. (Believe me, I know to my cost the strain of trying to do everything too soon.)

The tummy will go eventually. So will the weight. In the meantime try to relax.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

Thanks for the advice. I am not worried about having a more wrinkly stomach that looks like a curtain but I currently look like I am just about to give birth again and I don't want to look 9 months pregnant one year later. For some reason I think that if I don't do anything about it I will loose the opertunity of my uterus contracting and it will nt contract enough.

I have just started gental situps as shown in the c-section recovery booklet.

Please don't get me wrong I am conpletely enjoying my son... and I suppose that I am also getting distrated with seeing my stomach being so large.

If I knew that will hard work I can loose the pregnant look then I would be OK.... I am a bit of a worrier sometimes. Anyway I will end this tread now and go back to feeding my son.

thanks for you suppport on this...
