so you think its unfair on the disabled private renters?
so instead of doing something about that, you prefer to see disabled SH tenants being treated unfairly as well?
to you, as long as all disabled people are treated unfairly then thats fair?

Given the fact it's "lunacy" to want equal rights and google shows no one else feels the same what's the point. Clearly people think only the disabled in council houses are worthy.

Not even disabled activists are campaigning for the rights in private renters or low income workers with needs.

Unless they are in a council house ....

how can that be true, you just said it's based on the lowest third, so the cheapest can't be £100, it has to be the same a the LHA surely £87?

i live in a rural area made up of 1 large town (Chesterfield) and many small market towns and villages. the LHA rate is set for the whole area. i live in one of the small market towns. there are 2 SJ 1 med flats (i harrassed the HA til they gace me one!) and 3 private 1 bed lets. two charge £110 a week and the third charges £100. obviously the cheaper ones are in the large town where there is more availability

equality in principle is always worth fighting for. but in practice it always means lowering the standards across the board, never lifting anyone up to a higher level

sigh, well there you go, take up the mantle yourself :) at least that way you would not come across as someone whose more than happy to punish the disabled for a personal issue about housing.

Is it just because they are in social housing that you despise them and wish for them to live even harder lives? you do realise as you sit and write this guff that people right now are actually disabled and living on benefits with even less money than they had before?

This is not a situation I would wish on my worst enemy. I wonder what drives such an unpleasant thought process, a general disgust towards benefits in general or some other warped justification process? Either way, you seem quite happy for disabled people to suffer so its pretty clear something has gone a little wrong in the noggin :)

I'm on the waiting list and I keep getting offer 2 bed places, they add the comment that I will have to pay the bedroom tax if I take the property, why are they still offering these places to people if we are so in need of these bedrooms?

I've had this too. Although, I would use the second room to store the disability equipment I have.

The LHA will be based on the lowest 30% rents in the area, not those that are available at that time. The cheaper properties will be snapped up and probably less movement.

Why would I despise SH tenants? I grew up in SH, my family live in SH.

Of course some people have less money MANY who live in private accommodation.

That's OK by you. At least I have morals whereas you are perfectly happy for a disabled claimant to pay

As long as they are not in SH and on HB.

Do you not think that is a very strange POV. It's almost like you are arguing for a tenancy agreement as opposed to disability

Which really would be "lunacy". To give preferential rights based on who your LL is.

Wow, a day and a half and 127 posts and none of the poster police have been on trying to get the thread moved to DT.

Why do the disabled always say that they need the spare room for their equipment? surely any stuff the need would be readily accessable down the stairs, in the hall, in the kitchen, bedroom etc.
    Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.

Don't let fact get in the way of a private renters bash. They all live in larger homes, more rooms than needed you know.

who knows why but its coming across that you do :)

hehe, you have morals. Those morals make the disabled have a harder life, that's not morals, its just delusion.

But there are plenty like you who can self justify the suffering of others and while that's a shame, it makes me a little glad I'm this side of the computer screen.

Luckily this policy is widely despised and seen for what it is, you can tell the rage the current bunch bawl at it being called a tax. Which says so much that they worry more about their PR than those in such a predicament.

Ah well, I can only hope sanity returns to policy at some time in the future.
