Never seen one ever.
If its only a box room then how can a second adult use it? Box rooms are legally for a child only in SH. So I guess they need to move anyway if their partner can't legally use it as a bedroom or they'd be overcrowding.
so you going to explain your true objection to this repugnant policy as so far you have made zero sense. I should add, the only other group who support these policies are folk who work for the DWP.
Are you connected to the political party, DWP, or you just think ALL disabled people should be made to suffer?0 -

You know I've seen hundreds of bedroom tax articles and petitions claiming how unfair it is on disabled,
Never seen one saying ALL disabled who can prove additional room is needed for their disability should get their full rent paid. Ie private renters and disabled who work.
I'd sign and support that with enthusiasm but I won't support any policy that is given "because their a council tenant". That's wrong on so many levels.
lunacy, sheer lunacy.
edit: I must confess I have more respect for those people who just openly come out and say "tough of them" rather than make such weird justifications as a distraction. Oddly I find this more irksome.0 -
I live in a 2 bed flat with a garage for the private housing allowance, I don't pay a bedroom tax, but if I moved to a social housing property, that was cheaper, then I would have to pay the tax, that is the point, not how many people it applies to, but that the situation is setup unfairly.
Like under 35 getting a room not shared room?
Like 70% of properties being above the rate
Like needing a month up front
Like moving if the LL wants
Yeah what an unfair set up SH have because a few get an extra room.0 -

so instead of doing something about that, you prefer to see disabled SH tenants being treated unfairly as well?
to you, as long as all disabled people are treated unfairly then thats fair?0 -
in my experience, most 2 bed houses have 2 decent sized bedrooms. its the 3 beds that have the tiny 3rd bedroom.
althiught my 1st flat was the exception. 7th floor and the 3nd bedroom was 4 /12 feet by 6 feet. couldnt even get a single bed in and close the door!
either way, tbh with you, if we are worried that someone may have a spare bedroom then it's a sad place to live, as said we are not talking swimming pools here, but a spare bedroom.
I'm on the waiting list and I keep getting offer 2 bed places, they add the comment that I will have to pay the bedroom tax if I take the property, why are they still offering these places to people if we are so in need of these bedrooms?
The money this tax brings in. is less than what the tories have just given as a tax alloance to married couples, it's nothing to do with saving money but all to do with getting voters from the public, the tories do not have any other popular policies so are making the most of kicking those on benefits, doesn't matter if the most affect groups are the disabled and the working, as long as the public think the tories are beating on those on welfare they are happy to do it.0 -

ypu are wrong. the LGA rate is set at the lowest third of the rental market in any area and is changed as the rental market fluctuates.
if you manage to get an extra bedroom within LHA rate it is almost certaain to be almost uninhabitable.
1 bed LHA rate where i lice is £87 a week. cheapest i bed private let is £100 a week
We've been through all this before and last time this subject came up I found plenty of habitable properties that could be rented on LHA. I have no desire to re-prove my point as it's a total waste of time in this forum.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

how can that be true, you just said it's based on the lowest third, so the cheapest can't be £100, it has to be the same a the LHA surely £87?0 -

If the issue is disability apply it across all sectors.
Wow. Because you cant see the brokenness of such a thought process.
So raise up the standards for all, not lower it down. You know this though, well I hope to god you do
Ah well, I know there are broken folk but its sad to see it in action when the consequences affect those who we should be supporting. I suppose in your head its quite reasonable to punish the disabled, sigh.0
