    When did you start your Prom savings fund? My eldest has had 2, one at the end of high school and one at the of college and it was not only the dress but also shoes, hairdressers, nails, make up, limo, photos - mind you this was 10 years ago so I expect that there are additional things now like spray tans, DVDs, 6 weeks of boot camp, dance lessons ....

    My eldest lad just had a suit and they all went from his mates farm - he forgot his parade shoes so had to wear black trainers underneath :) I don't think my youngest lad went at all - def not this idea of fun.

    well I have been looking but not really saving as haven't had the money :(....but my dd is really good at doing her nails and im good at doing hair.....im not a hairdresser but im a dab hand when it comes to putting hair up....got two friends that can do her make up but I need a cheap car hire as she would love her and her friends to go in a limo and then its the dress....im on a tight budget so needs to get looking for bargains !!!

    :(broke my back doing glitching :eek:

    Yes it's the £30 a week that I could never figure out - where did the government get this figure from. There are some very energetic 80 and 90 year olds that armed with their pensions, get their hair and nails done every week, go on outings and have pub lunches, go to tea dances, treat themselves to perfume, chocolate, make up etc so their personal spends are far than than £30 a week and then there is Christmas, Birthdays and other family occasions ...
    (Thinking of what my mil in her 70s used to spend )

    same happened to my Gran :A She went into a wonderful nursing home (more like a block of flats tbh) and loved being there - she always loved chatting to young people and had a wicked (as in filthy!) sense of humour. She had to sell her house (£100k) to pay for the nursing home costs of £700 per week. Once those funds had depleted to £20 odd thousand, the council would step in and fund it. She would get an allowance of £30 per week. Sadly, she passed away last year, less than 3 years of being in the home. She worried so much about living on only £30 per week so i guess it's ironic that she never reached that point. :A

    Take it back and re-buy at T.. :D

    Enjoy your day I am hoping I will not get tempted to break my NSD

    Had some good news about my Grandma (her nursing home gave us 3 weeks notice that it was closing) :) Mum has got her a place at another care home :j It is more expensive at something crazy like £860 a week but looks nicer than the one she is in now :T It's purpose built and looks more like a hotel. I really hope she settles in. It's a big upheaval for a 91 year old.

    Sorry in advance I need to vent :o

    I'm feeling really stressed this morning. Two things;

    I've found out that my update week at work now incorporates two written exams :eek: Had an email to ask how I would get my pre course reading as it is assessed but not taught. No chance of winging it as lots of things will have changed since last May. Spent half of yesterday completing online modules that I'd planned to do as part of my phased return. I'm suspicious my return may end up being 'she's competent, we're busy, she can work as normal :eek:'

    Secondly, I've got a really sore shoulder this morning and it's unsettled me. I'm sure it's just a pulled muscle or I've slept funny but it is a very familiar pain that I had before my diagnosis. I've taken some painkillers and will try and ignore it and not read too much into it.

    Glad she is getting sorted, wow expensive. Hope your shoulder is nothing to b worried about, sending hugs and positive thoughts your way. X

    Best NSD with a difference is the reverse one whereby you visit several shops but get refunds for the impulse buys you bought earlier in the month. This is very useful for bringing your daily budget totals on your excel chart back into line so the end figures are black and not red :T
