Shop from this morning, NOT happy as the toothpaste is showing as n/a even though Tesco stock all three types and they're on BOGOF. Is there any point emailing them or shall I just return the toothpaste and rebuy at T's?

Good morning, scamps I am so sorry for the pain that sick individual you have for a mil has caused you but I do believe in what goes around comes around and she will reap what she sows. I have had a small reprieve and don't have dialysis for the rest of the week to see how I go without it :j so think I will pay T's and sada a visit today, might be a bit optimistic thinking I'll manage both, have a good day everyone:)

Yes we were in this position with my Dad the house had to be sold.

If you have over about £26 thousand in assets then you self fund your care - below that there is a sliding scale until a point comes when you get 100% paid for and you will always be left with some pocket money out of your pension - not a vast amount though.

check direct.gov for exact figures as its 3 years since my Dad went into care.

My Dads was about £500 a weeknight Staffordshire , comfortable but understaffed, probably not the best. He had attendance allowance, state and works pension as income, not enough to pay income tax. He had to find about a thousand each month out of the money we sold the house for.

Daughters future nana- in- law pays about £800 a week for her care home fees in Yorkshire. All of her assets are tied up in her bungalow, very little ready cash so its a difficult situation They have not decided yet weather to rent out the bungalow for extra income or to sell it. At the moment the fees are part paid by several pensions and a son is making up the difference.

With more of us living now into our 80s and 90s I suppose this is going to happen more and more.
My mother, 99, has been in a brilliant nursing home for the past 7 yrs. She pays about £800 a week but her money is tied up in her bungalow which we couldn't sell at the time. It's been let out now for 5 yrs. The local council pay the shortfall from her income, about £1600 a month & when she passes on the property will have to be sold & the money paid back. It's called a deffered (I think) payment system. It's interest free until 90 days after my mother's passing. Then they start to charge interest on what's owing but only a reasonable rate, nothing exhorbitant. It's very good as the income from the rent is far more than the interest would be if the capital from the bungalow was invested.

a little help need please xx
I have started looking for my dd prom dress for this june.....do anyone know where the best place to get a good offer on them...im close to Cabot circus Bristol or have anyone used someone on ebay.....this would be most helpful as I don't want to end up having to pay for it all in one go

When did you start your Prom savings fund? My eldest has had 2, one at the end of high school and one at the of college and it was not only the dress but also shoes, hairdressers, nails, make up, limo, photos - mind you this was 10 years ago so I expect that there are additional things now like spray tans, DVDs, 6 weeks of boot camp, dance lessons ....

My eldest lad just had a suit and they all went from his mates farm - he forgot his parade shoes so had to wear black trainers underneath :) I don't think my youngest lad went at all - def not this idea of fun.

same happened to my Gran :A She went into a wonderful nursing home (more like a block of flats tbh) and loved being there - she always loved chatting to young people and had a wicked (as in filthy!) sense of humour. She had to sell her house (£100k) to pay for the nursing home costs of £700 per week. Once those funds had depleted to £20 odd thousand, the council would step in and fund it. She would get an allowance of £30 per week. Sadly, she passed away last year, less than 3 years of being in the home. She worried so much about living on only £30 per week so i guess it's ironic that she never reached that point. :A
