TKMAXX is having a sale at the moment - often some very nice dresses in there (if you've got the figure for them, which I do not, yet)

I know, the price is crazy. She's has had to sell her bungalow so is paying it herself at the moment

I'm due to have seen my haematologist last month but no appt has come through. I think I'll pop over to them after I've collected my pre course stuff and check I've not been forgotten.

In the mean time, the test I'll do this evening to reassure myself is to have a drink... Alcohol makes lymphoma pain worse. If the pain is the same/better after a glass of wine then I will feel reassured

Yes we were in this position with my Dad the house had to be sold.

If you have over about £26 thousand in assets then you self fund your care - below that there is a sliding scale until a point comes when you get 100% paid for and you will always be left with some pocket money out of your pension - not a vast amount though.

check direct.gov for exact figures as its 3 years since my Dad went into care.

My Dads was about £500 a weeknight Staffordshire , comfortable but understaffed, probably not the best. He had attendance allowance, state and works pension as income, not enough to pay income tax. He had to find about a thousand each month out of the money we sold the house for.

Daughters future nana- in- law pays about £800 a week for her care home fees in Yorkshire. All of her assets are tied up in her bungalow, very little ready cash so its a difficult situation They have not decided yet weather to rent out the bungalow for extra income or to sell it. At the moment the fees are part paid by several pensions and a son is making up the difference.

With more of us living now into our 80s and 90s I suppose this is going to happen more and more.

    Hi Logie

been pleased to follow ur recovery and ur impending phased return to work, and obviously its depends on ur managers and hr team, but u have to feel ur fully supported so shout up,,,in ur role, u need to be eased back into a highly stressed and demanding job....i was supported on a phased return last year for different reasons and although it was scary and exhausting (physically and emotionally), after a while it feels like u've never been away but then u then something will trigger and it takes u right back...u can do it but it it will take time, and it sounds like ur colleagues are lovely and will support u

if ur shoulder pain persists, see ur gp for some reassurance instead of worrying xx

Thanks floydy, I hope they will all be supportive but the goal posts are starting to move before I'm even back  Was told I could ease in and only do first 3 days of update week if I struggle as they are the most important. Now they've changed the schedule so the most important day is on Friday.... I am determined that my health comes first though. No more struggling on through a shift
