Hi Lou.
Unfortunately stationery-gate isn't a place. I was referring to the massive issues I'd had with The Works and discussions with their Operations Director last week. So in the vein of Irangate it became Stationery-gate.
£2.99 for 10 highlighters was good though, just haven't tested them yet. They're currently offering 20% off online plus another 18% via Quidco. Maybe worth a wee look and see what you think?

I am nodding and uh-huhing away here
. Routines and rules and literal tasks to break down bigger things. We live by a small whiteboard for homework, wonder if something like that might help for his course? Now I get excited by new whiteboard pens :rotfl:
John Soames House sounds interesting, we're a quick 40 mins train ride from central London. We're not far from Bletchley Park either.
Do hope the box opening goes well.Back on the DFW Wagon:

Thanks Ali.
He got stuck doing a maths problem once and I suggested he drew a table for the data.
Came back in to a blank bit of paper. "Do you want kitchen or dining room?".:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust :A0 -
I still get caught out with the literal-ness, it's really hard to think like they do at times. And teaching his teachers....well, they just have to find out for themselves now!Back on the DFW Wagon:

Very helpful. The very high level plan is tomorrow he tidies his room so he has room for books and materials, 10,000 Coke Cans are disposed of and all my "change from the shopping" is hidden in his safe or I'm having it back.
Monday we'll open the box together and go through all the materials which will include a week by week study guide from the OU. My difficulty will be getting him to agree to Week 1's activities if Monday is not exactly Week 1 on the guide. I think Ali may appreciate this problem...the Boys do not like breaking rules!!
Anyhoo, Week 1 in my world starts Monday and we'll do as you suggest Alex and work out in detail what he's doing by when and a little outline plan for next few weeks up to assignment 1.
Believe it or not I'm even toying with the idea of a Star Chart - hell it would work for me especially if the prize was a Mars Bar on Friday :rotfl:
Sounds like you've got a plan.
Might be worth making a Gantt chart?
Given all the teaching and volunteering you're doing now, don't you fancy returning to that idea. Professor Alexander , sounds very Meerkatty. We must club together and get you a smoking jacket. (In SB's literal world that would be a jacket on fire btw).
I'd love to and I'm hoping to start my PhD part time when my son goes to school full time, so that'll be September 2015. Already started looking into it and the possibility of funding. On the downside it will have to work around my business (which shouldn't be too difficult).
Yes, I think I shall stick with Professor Alexander, Professor K. sounds like some kind of Bond villain. Apparently, you're not the only one to imagine me wearing a smoking jacket and day cravat. :rotfl:2018 totals:

Some just never get it...but some are brilliant. Will be that way throughout their lives I think.Sounds like you've got a plan.

Well today started well with Asda coming to refill all the empty cupboards and fridge. We'd managed pretty much everything down to the wire so dishes weren't done last night as no washing-up liquid left.
A friend was meant to be coming round but never showed, Finally she phoned to say why she hadn't been in touch for a few months. The story just got worse and worse, poor soul has been through the mill so I'm popping in to Edinburgh to have dinner with her on Tuesday.
Three things I'm grateful for...
1) Time with Husky today. We had a little grooming session then a good walk around the river. She's a beautiful little lady and is happily snoring on the couch.
2) Cupboards full of food and provisions. I'm going to be out of work for a bit but the bills are paid and store cupboards nicely stocked up.
3) Education. We've gone from a "one chance" ethos to finding ways to promote learning through many avenues. I'm looking forward to working with SB on his journey.:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust :A0
