Got SB a great wee cartoon book called Off the Leash.

You may find some of these ring a bell or two.
Fabby! Thanks for sharing.
One of mine (scruffy mutt no 1) doesn't do sea - he tip toes by it like its shark infested custard. The other romps off and then mysteriously turns round to find the beach a mere blip - he's younger and cairns aren't noted for their bravery or brains.
Love the Westie cartoon too.
:rotfl:
Hope you enjoyed the walk and today went well - I'd hate to not live by the sea - its the ONLY thing on my new house wish list (aside a garden, a greenhouse, some chickens, etc etc etc :rotfl:) Plenty of coastline in Scotland to keep us beach bums happy though.:TTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

So true Pippi...we must all have a fair few feet of private coastline up here and if you add in the lochs and rivers nae wonder we've webbed feet.
Magnificent the Westie is my absolute favourite. Husky is on couch, muddy and panting after our "slightly darker than planned" walk...there were quite a few potholes to be navigated in the dark.
Spotted my across-the-road neighbour and asked if she'd been the kind samaritan who'd helped get kitten off the roof the other week at 1am. Turns out it wasn't her so no idea who son had stuck up a ladder in her pjs :rotfl: Gawd bless her whoever she may be. What ATRN did say was that the kittens come visiting especially the boy. He bounces about their garage, lies on his back batting his paws and then goes home after they've gone and got him a portion of chicken from the fridge - men!! Little girls just come home with a fresh branch to take to bed :rotfl:
In other news SB has just received his Part-Time grant from SAAS paying all his first OU course fees. We've agreed to open the course together on Monday and work out a study schedule. I have noted on the registration that he does have Aspergers but we'll wait until he's up and running to better understand what he needs support wise.
Fridge is almost bare so will do some menu planning later this evening. Going to make a pasta sauce from the butternut squash, single pepper, handful of tomatoes and red onions I'm left with. That'll leave a few onions, lemons, carrots, 2 wrinkled apples and couple wee bits of cheese left over. Think we deserve a top up.
First of the two refunds from The Works hit my account today. Second one is about £160 so should hopefully arrive at the start of the week.
We'll leave the flats alone as a subject, Suffice to say it took a sleeping tablet and tranquiliser to knock me out last night after reading Letting Agents latest nonsense. I will share when my blood pressure lessens :A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust :A0 -

Hi Lou,
It was a nice surprise. He can only get it if he stays under 119 credits a year and the course is 60. Depending how it goes we may alternate SAAS and pay for it. He's also hoping to use it as a stepping stone to a bricks and mortar uni but I'm keen we go slow and see what's best. Hopefully he takes to this style of learning.
How's your son doing with his course?

That's great news Lou. They will get there...just hard watching them struggle sometimes.Hi there,
I hope everything is going well for you. What subject is your son studying?
Hi Alex.
He's doing the Arts Foundation course and hopes to do his main degree in History. He's very good at applying concepts but appalling at exams and the like so we're trying this route to see if it helps.
He'll get to where he wants to go in time...my job is to help support him to that.
So you'll still be daddying Mini-K for a long time to come :T

I'm a big history buff, does he have a fave? There's acres of time I know nothing whatsoever about, of course, its probably one of those
don't want to paint myself into a corner there

Hi KC,
He's not too decided. Neither of us are too keen on ancient history but we both like social history from Jacobite period on.
WWII fascinates me but not from a battles perspective more the impact on communities and rationale behind various factions doing what they did. SB is interested in the American Civil War from the same position, people not battles.
The OU Course is a good all round starter so hopefully he enjoys being exposed to lots of of new ideas and learning the techniques of studying, essay writing, referencing etc.
We'll kick off on Monday and get him logged on and a schedule set up. Maybe it's serendipity that I'm off for a few weeks while we get him up and running.

Sounds good.Is he well versed in good exam technique? If not, that certainly could help.
I always enjoyed history. My main interest was in ancient history / classics during my school days. However, I have developed a recent interest in more modern times and social history. In many ways I'd like to start another undergraduate degree, I miss having an academic challenge and a new subject would be interesting.
I certainly hope so, my son is all too often the only reason for me choosing to live.2018 totals:
