And yes, the relief is hard-earned but it's fabulous that there are people who can moderate.

I guess I've been working on this for 18 years! Bit like when I first gave up smoking when I was 20 and I lasted about 2 hours - took me decades after that to completely kick it - :o I'm a slow learner :D
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

    Hello

Thank you all for your supportive words in the thread. Dizzy, hope you are feeling better now. I did the quiz Honey Bear. Results as expected.

Well, it is 18.20 hrs and I am chomping at the bit to make a drink. The entire weekend was a flurry of social activities and bingeing on alcohol started on friday afternoon where I met up with some friends in a marina bar. Started off civilised (sorry if I sound like Lady Colin Campbell) and ended in chaos as per usual and repeated on every day over the weekend. I so far haven't heard of anything particularly gruesome which I did, apart from borderline infidelity - which is nothing to be proud of either - and no apparent injuries.

The honeymooning couple have messaged me so obviously no longterm damage from my drinking activities at their wedding over bank holiday weekend. Thankfully.
Best part was I kept saying to myself before the wedding "don't drink Stupot, you'll be a nutter". Minute the champagne came out after the wedding I had one in my hand. Meh!!

Mr SPS has just arrived home and I've been in bed all day sick from booze. !!!!!!! Again!

So calling in early for tonight 1/30 AF.

2/25 AFDs today. It's been a gloriously sunny day here, and I took mum to the shops to buy some birthday cards. I didn't bother with a coat, but she still said the wind was cold... old bones feel the cold.

Dizzy, I hope you are feeling better today? Was it an anxiety attack? That can feel like a heart attack.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

Last three nights haven't been AFD for me, getting back into it tomorrow, but the good thing is that I feel I've had enough a hell of a lot sooner than say about five years ago. I seem to always keep it to three. Which is still maybe too much but so much more restrained than I used to be. Onwards and upwards etc.

I could have written this post.
My drinking starts in a sophisticated way, and then often gets messier and messier. Ditto the voice in my head saying 'don't drink', and then before you know it there is a glass in my hand, and the cycle repeats. That's the precursor to the next day in bed, feeling physically sick and me being really hard on myself, bewildered how it happened again....

Advice I was given was keep looking for something that works, and then when you find it, stop looking if you stick with it.
Be it this thread or other sites, group meetings, antabuse, CBT, etc...when something works, use it and keep using it.
I found something that has worked for me so far, and thus I keep using it so it continues to work. Easier said than done.

    Take care SPS
