2/29 AFDs tonight. DH was given a hamper which included a bottle of wine which he put straight in the fridge.
My wine devil is already trying to negotiate that Sunday isn't a Lenten day of fasting and abstinence. Ha, I'm not falling into that trap. It is true that if you count up 40 days from Ash Wednesday through to Easter, you don't include Sundays. But I've pledged to be AF until Easter, not AF for Lent.
Sorry for waffling, but I needed to show that wine devil that I knew what his game was. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
+1 for tonight, please.2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -
2/14 for me please Shaggy.
I went in to the shop and browsed the wine section but came out empty handed.
Sleep well everyone.0 -
Not an AF day for me but another very low consumption day, which I am attributing to this thread. I just didn't want to drink, really. Tomorrow will be AF0

Calling it early, 1/15 for me please Shaggy.
Is it okay if I post here even on the days I'm not AF? ... It's a way of keeping in touch with the thread and my plan to restrain myself. I don't know if the fact that I'm saying I have had a drink is not good for people who are doing an AF day? ...0 -
I personally always like to hear folks' stories. I drank 4 days in a row last week and was reluctant to look at this forum when I had nothing positive to post but it really helped when I read other peoples stories and realise we are all fighting booze in our own personal ways, through the good and bad days.
Since joining this forum, I've discovered that the more consecutive days I have, the more the desire weakens, however tomorrow night (the start of my weekend and a time I have allowed myself to drink) I'm aware that the headaches will return and Sunday night will be a struggle to be AF.
I'm hoping as the weeks/months go by, I'll have more AF consecutive days and my weekend will diminish but I'm taking it a week at a time for now.
Watched a documentary on Channel 5 last night about the death of the brilliant actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman and noted that he had been dry for 15 years but after a particularly difficult film which he had worked on for 3 years, he decided to celebrate at a party and started drinking again.... within a few years he was dead as a result of a drug overdose, which one can't help thinking, would never had happened had he never had that glass of wine at the party0 -
Morning :hello:
1 more AFD for yesterday.
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
