That was an intersting post, Yellow Monkey. I think all the talk of Dry January a couple of years ago was one of the factors in me deciding to join Belle's 100 Day Challenge mid-January 2014, but I cracked after 20 days and found that after a couple of weeks I was back into my old familiar habits. Apparently I'm one of the people who just can't cut down, although I wish I were. Strangely I don't remember feeling any better at all during those three weeks, so it's helpful hearing that you do. Good luck with February!
Welome Poppety! It sounds as though you've worked out what works for you. Good luck with it.
I think you're right, Cathybird - the whisky probably doesn't help but it blots out feeling some of the symptoms, I'd have thought. Let's be honest, it means we can call it medicinal and therefore good for us!
17/31 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -

Hang in there Sandypan!! I must say though you've summed up the/my problem with alcohol in a nutshell - drink a glass or so and suddenly more alcohol on top of that again seems like a brilliant idea. Which, of course, it isn't!0 -
11 please, Shaggy, thanks0

Didn't do badly on Friday (4 drinks) and Saturday (3 drinks) had already decided I would be happy to have a drink when I'm with partner or friends but not when at home on my own. I'm preparing dinner early as I'm beginning to weaken ...... had a cup of tea and that's helped a bit but can't wait for the chicken to cook as the half bottle of chilled wine in the fridge is definitely winking at me !!!!
Welcome Poppety, I too fooled myself into thinking that I was getting away with it as I'm not overweight and am reasonably fit but of course I was only kidding myself.
Good luck with this week and thanks to everyone who has given me such support this very difficult first week.0 -
