What do you want your target to be?What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
4 please, Shaggy, ta0

Hi Shaggy, can I join please? I got into the habit of a glass (or 2) of wine most evenings last year but am aiming to cut back big time this year. Am aiming for a dry January and am 7/31 so far0

No drinking last night so I'm 5/30 thanks Shaggy.
I have a night out tonight, not decided whether to drink or not if I'm honest. I'm wavering toward deciding to have some wine, scared if I decide not to have any then fail.0 -
24 then please shaggy0

Hello stu, so good to have you back! What a horror story!! Good to know you're still here to tell the tale and a salutary lesson for us all. Thank you.
Welcome [Deleted User]. You've made an excellent start, a week done already.:)The other thing I always think is that it helps to give up watching TV at the same time as you give up drinking. Everyone on TV dramas seems to drink like a fish - wine with meals at home, wine with meals out, spirits in bars etc. In fact I don't give up watching TV as it would make the evening even longer (perhaps a good thing?) but it is another trigger I could do without.
I remember it well. As a fan of trash TV, the worst times for me were when they all adjourn to the bar in Holby City. As Tuesday is a school night I always found it really hard work:(.0 -
Well done to everyone esp my fellow Dry January buddies :T
8/31 for tonight please.0 -
Hi I'm new to this part of the forum.
I was planning on having a dry January, but that hasn't quite worked out as I planned. I have just taken on a more challenging role at work, with longer hours and when DH suggested a drink last night, I wasn't able to say no. I think I will be going for 20 alcohol free days this month.
So far I have managed 5/20£1000 Emergency Fund #175 - £598/£1000
PAYDBX 16 #134 - £2139.00/£6961.85

8/31 AFDs today.
Stu, I hope you've asked your GP for support, and also could attend AA? This forum is great, but I think you need more.
Is your OH ok? I would assume they're angry, anxious, worried, wary. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0
