Piggles, you've had a huge curveball thrown at you, so please be compassionate to yourself. In between form filling, how about giving yourself a manicure, or choose one drawer and declutter it? (I'm trying to think of distractions for you to try).

MH provision is woefully inadequate. Keep nagging to get some help. Last year, my DH went for a first appointment (after waiting 24 weeks) only to find they had sent him to the wrong type of practitioner. He then had to wait another 8 weeks. He didn't make a fuss, I couldn't believe it. DH is very supportive, and also great at "looking after". He's also fab at noticing/praising when I've lost a few lbs.

Cathybird & Dizzy, you didn't upset anyone.

Thanks satchmo :) I did a couple of things that always make me feel better. I wish I could get on with the distracting things I've been trying to do for ages but they're all on hold because of the mountain of urgent stuff.

I'm seeing a therapy lady for a one off next week so I'm going to ask her what she thinks. Sending your DH to the wrong type of person sounds about the sort of thing they do yes! The MH team said they couldn't find anything else for me. All I asked for was a competent therapist. I'll see what they say if/when they call back.

Piggles, it sounds like you have so much on your plate to try to deal with - I do hope things get easier for you, especially with getting proper help with the mh issues. As satchmo1 says, provision can be absolutely terrible - I hope they get their act together for you.

Thank you cathybird :) Back in the day there was miles more help than there is now. But I'm surprised they couldn't find anything at all.

piggles, I'd echo what satchmo said and tell you to be more compassionate with yourself.:naughty:

What you said about your December total doesn't really make sense. How can 23 out of 31 be mostly at the beginning of the month? Surely at a very generous estimate the beginning of the month stops at 15 or 16? You did a week more than that and got loads of smileys (inserts green face:D).

I do understand that you're cross with yourself that you seem to have got back into bad habits. But you haven't given up, you're still trying and you're still posting. They're all positives:).

Satchmo suggests distractions to keep you busy, that's good advice. I'm going to ask you why you choose to keep wine in the house if you don't want to drink it?

    Thanks maman :)

There's no chastising going on here. I'm too exhausted and upset to be cross at myself.

I looked at my diary for last month and there were a lot more regular zeros at the beginning of the month than at the end.

The booze I've got in the house I bought most of it back in September/October and it's still here. I don't drink because it's there, I drink when I need to, so a lot of the time it's been left alone. And I don't want to have to go out the house just to get a drink. It's safe most of the time :)

I'm very glad the holiday season is over now. At least there's more business days now to get stuff done. That will be a good distraction, to be able to feel I'm doing something about all of this.

Whoo hoo! Day 3 of the teetotal challenge is drawing to a close and I have a cuppa in hand.

Fairly carp day - lots planned, nothing actually done and now waiting for my Asda delivery. Poor delivery person having to work extra late as the system crashed on them earlier. Was told my order was cancelled, which was terrifying as school starts again tomorrow and my order has all the lunch bits and bobs  Second telephone call restored me to some form of sanity, but they are now running very late...yawn...need sleep....

    3/31 please Shaggy x

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

My problem with people who think the government shouldn't put out any guidance on alcohol consumption means that the massive excesses that overload A&E every single weekend and all highdays and holidays would carry on regardless with their tacit support. At least it's an attempt to remind people that what we're doing isn't harmless.

The health issues of overconsumption were a hugely helpful factor in my giving up, once I'd realised my behaviour wasn't okay and it had to stop.

I think it's very difficult for governments to come up with safe limits for drinking because alcohol seems to have beneficial effects for some organs, like the heart and the circulatory system, whilst having negative effects on others. However, heavy drinking is not good for anyone :) and overloading A & E with people who've drunk too much is a national disgrace.

    Imho :D
