22/22 AFDs for me today, just scraping in - which happens once in a Blue Moon. Tonight is a Blue Moon - which is when there are two full moons in a month (2nd and 31st July). A rare occurrence, which coined the saying "once in a Blue Moon".What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0

21/20 please, Shaggy Smashed my target again - amazing how willpower kicks back in when DD's back at home from uni!!0

Great Stuff!! Isn't this thread wonderful!!:A0 -
I realise I haven't updated this in a while. 2 more to add though, taking my score to 9.
I hope to do better in August but would like to set a (hopefully easily attainable) target of 15.
2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -
:j I hit my target - my low target, but nonetheless, I hit it :j
20/20 for July - must've been that Blue Moon (I didn't know that's how the saying came about) lol
I'm going for an extra day this month, so wish me luck :rotfl:0 -
Hi, can I join in for August please? Due to a potential change of circumstances we are looking for ways to cut back and I said to dh that the wine budget will be the first to go. Plus I would like to lose a few pounds as well. We're away on holiday for 8 days so I'll try for14AFD this first month and aim for a few ALDs as well.
I have been reading some of the posts and feel inspired - I just need to work on dealing with frustration at work in a different way than a glass of wine

Yes! Bizzarely, I only learned last night about the 'blue moon' thing from a dinner guest and then came on here this morning to find it explained so beautifully again! OH celebrated by tottering out onto Plymouth Hoe at 2.00am to have a look at it, by which time I'd had a bit of a sober sense of humour failing because he never, ever wants the party to end and he'd been carrying on, by himself, for over an hour. (The dog and I went to bed instead, so I missed it but I'll be sure and catch it the next time.)
1/31 please, Shaggy.
Off to celebrate a friend's 60th or 65th (he's being very coy about the actual number) with a 1950s dress-code steam train journey with a cream tea. I'm very intrigued as to how many events I'll be attending in the future that aren't structured around alcohol. Thoroughly looking forward to it.Better is good enough.0 -

There are lots of hints and tips for getting started. Many of us post early in the day so the decision is made long before wine o'clock. I also find getting in and making straight for the kitchen and putting the kettle on for a hot drink pushes thoughts of opening a bottle away. And then every hour you manage of an evening takes you closer to bed time and it would be a shame to spoil an AF day wouldn't it?;)
As your focus is primarily money saving perhaps totting up how much you save across the month will motivate you. As there's two of you cutting back that should be quite a bit saved. Maybe you could use the money for something in particular.
Just keep posting and ask any questions you want:).0 -
Thanks, maman for that. Tbh I also need to cut down on quantity as well - actually cant believe how long this Saturday is and what I've got done. Normally I'd be working out when I could open a bottle.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”
