thriftmonster wrote: »Hi, can I join in for August please? Due to a potential change of circumstances we are looking for ways to cut back and I said to dh that the wine budget will be the first to go. Plus I would like to lose a few pounds as well. We're away on holiday for 8 days so I'll try for14AFD this first month and aim for a few ALDs as well.
I have been reading some of the posts and feel inspired - I just need to work on dealing with frustration at work in a different way than a glass of wine
Welcome, Thrift Monster! I know Maman's said that most people post early in the day, and I do now, but for my first eleven months on this thread I was so worried I'd succumb to temptation I never posted an AF figure until the morning after. I'm pretty sure I won't give in to unexecpted temptation now but if you work out what suits you, the system works! Good luck with it.Better is good enough.0 -
As predicted earlier in the week I fell short of target for July on 21/22
Well done to everyone for July :T and good luck for August

Honey_Bear wrote: »It was huge fun! Quite a lot of people had gone to a lot of trouble to dress in 1950s clothes, so we had a lot of smart men and elegant women, with several people wearing hats as well. The host had organised two vintage coaches to take us from Plymouth to Bodmin, so there were lots of waves from people on the way which always feels special. There had been an accident on the main road, so the drivers took us over to Cornwall on Torpoint Ferry, and then via Looe, so we had a long but really beautiful journey down there. This was where we went and this is what the Birthday Boy had organised for us. Everthing was home-made, our steward was absolutely great and the journey back was quick along the main roads. Lovely. I thoroughly recommend that railway to anyone who's planning on visiting Cornwall this summer. Lovely people.
Certainly a little bit envious, Honey Bear.I'm visiting Cornwall next year, had a look at the events in May and whilst the event you went to isn't on, Steam, Beer and Jazz is, I'll take that.

2 for this evening, please. Wanted a drink but decided to play piano instead, :rotfl:, it's a good thing I live in a detached house and wife and son are both heavy sleepers.

An ALD for me yesterday, just one glass of something violently green and sour which was enough for me lol!
You're right Honey Bear - everyone was very grateful for door-to-door taxi delivery. Mind you one of the lads lived out in the sticks a bit, which wasn't great, but got everyone home safely.
2/21 please0 -
1/21 for Saturday and avoided the wine yesterday. All the tips about the hot chocolate -many thanks -it really hit the spot. Early start tomorrow so will aim for another afd today.
Was reading Chardonnay's diary which I found very helpful.
Edited to say:hi Shaggydoo -it's Thriftmonster not master -although Thriftmaster might be a promotion!!

1 AFD please, Shaggy, ta
I decided whilst doing parkrun at a slower pace than the rest of 2015's runs that I need to restart mid-week running as I'm getting slower every week at parkrun.
Mine are getting a bit slower too - I only started this January, and peaked in May, but haven't achieved my PB again since then! TBH I am just happy to get around the park though!! :T DD2 and DD3 came with us this week - that made me very happyObviously they beat me easily  Coffee afterwards was soooooo pleasant

I'm getting off the ground today and although I might be tempting fate I might manage another SNC.
Sound like a good plan to have a glass of something vile dizzy although I think I'll pass on that as a cutting down tip;).
Your evening out sounded great HB. We have something similar near me. I went on an Agatha Christie type Murder Mystery dinner ride and everyone dressed up for the period, great fun.

Don't hesitate to let me know if I've made a mistake! What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0
