What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Another AF day planned. I might even manage another SNC, 2 weeks in a row!!;)

I'm going to stick with counting AFDs for the chart in August but post any ALDs as well (just for my own records) so that I can look at the overall picture at the end of the month. ALDs are likely only to be meals out where I have a single glass and don't carry on at home and they don't happen very often.:o Hope that all makes sense.

    12 AFDs please Shaggy.

But you're well on the way HB, and a year is certainly not to be sniffed at.:A

I'm not sniffing, I promise you, Maman. When I first stopped I longed to be further down the AF road and found myself wishing my life away for a few weeks. I just wanted the painful and dangerous stage to be over as quickly as possible, I think. When I got to about Day 60 I knew it was for real and ever since then it's been brilliant. I can hear people say they've been sober for 35 years and not feel any kind of envy, it's just a number, but there are lots of people with whom I feel some kind of common bond - like pretty much anyone on this thread - but I do genuinely feel I have a bit of catching up to do!

Satchmo, I won't say it was my family that drove me to drink but the way they behaved around the time of my father's and mother's final illnesses didn't help. I simply can't, even now, ten years on, work out how my brothers thought that behaving the way they did was okay. Most of the time I just discounted them altogether because they were useless; it was when they made the care of both parents even more difficult that I wanted to let fly. (I did a couple of times too, but only when I'd had too much to drink, so I was pretty incoherent and that didn't help the situation, either.) Good luck with that aspect of August; I'll be sending you a bucket each of posi-vibes and coping vibes.
    Better is good enough.

    21/22 AFDs for me today.

I found a pedometer app on my phone, which is proving motivational as I've been very lazy lately. Have done 6000 steps so far today, which is more than double yesterdays.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

What's the app satchmo? I'm ashamed with how little exercise I get. I was listening to a fat v fit discussion on the radio earlier and although the overall conclusion seemed to be that you carry risk (joints, cardio-vascular etc) if you're fat even if you're thin the corollary is that it's perfectly possible to have a good BMI but not be fit. That's me:o.

Was sorely tempted to have a s*d it day yesterday. I spent three hours:eek: talking to Virgin about my phone and it's still not sorted! But my mood passed and I managed to stick to my AF resolve.

Calling in for today and that'll be another SNC and

13 AFDs for July please Shaggy.

Thank you soooo much for keeping us on the straight and narrow. You help so much:A.
