It's one more than you would have done before you joined this thread AND you are a third of the way to your target!!! Inc tonight, you have 17 potential AF days and you only need 6 to hit your target :T
Have a lovely holiday Satch, you deserve it :A

Thanks Chardonnay. I totally agree about the wine, I love it and Chardonnay is one of my favourites
But I have started avoiding it now as its just so strong, too easy to drink and inevitably results in a hangover. My recent idea was to try and stick to Vodka, lime n soda or gin and tonics in the pub. These are only one unit per drink and if I can drink slowly then I should avoid getting excessively drunk hopefully.
The party was good fun. Everyone was told to bring a bottle of spirits so the cocktails were in full flow. I didn't start drinking till nearly 10pm and I kept topping up my first drink with soda water to dilute it. Inevitably I did sample a few different cocktails over the course of the night but I didn't get really drunk and remember the whole night so I'm counting that as a success
Hope everyone else is enjoying the weekend!
I used to love Chardonnay too funnily enough! But I agree, it is so strong and I actually avoid it now as I don't like the taste any more. I do love a nice Sauvignon Blanc with a meal though
I am trying to do the same as you with the drinking vodka lime and soda, or gin and tonic on a night out. As you say, they are only 1 unit if you have a single, rather than 2-3 units for wine. It mounts up over a night out! Saying that, I did fail at that on Saturday night. I went on a girls' night out and had 3 bottles of Smirnoff Ice (amongst other drinks
) thinking that would be ok, then realised there are 3 units in each bottle so I won't be drinking that again!

I can seem to moderate and be careful, but then I have a night where I don't and I hate the feeling afterwards. Would love to be AF, and have been tip toeing around the idea for ages.
Good luck KrystianOCO x
I feel the same MC! I'm not too bad until I'm faced with a big night out or drinking occasion. I've had two weekends in a row of these now and I've definitely drank more than I planned to! Not as bad as I have done previously and I am gradually learning but both times I have felt very rough the next day!Thankfully I don't have any more of those occasions on the horizon for a while!
I am thinking again about the AF thing too. I do know that I felt so much better in myself and seemed to achieve so much more when I wasn't drinking at all. I'm just not sure if I'm quite at that place yet and would need to be 100% committed this time!
Anyway, no alcohol for me yesterday (felt too rough!!) so am now on 9/22 please Shaggy!0 -
Morning :hello:
1 more AFD to add for yesterday.
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
When I go back home at the weekend though I'm in the mood to socialize and spend all of Saturday and Sunday (and sometimes Friday night) out with people, usually drinking for long periods of time.
At first, you could just try not having your first drink until later in the evening than normal. Then keep pushing the time you start drinking back a half hour or an hour. Once you start drinking try alternating with a soft drink. To begin with start counting how many units you are consuming in an evening. Then start setting yourself a target/limit on the number of units you consume in an evening. Once you reach your target in an evening make your next drinking day a lower target.
As your alcohol consumption decreases so will your tolerance.
There are lots of good websites with tips on cutting down.

I estimated I spend £100 per month on alcohol (drinking in or out) so it's time to stop for a few months.
