Don't hesitate to let me know if I've made a mistake! What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
Another AF here please Shaggy0

At first, you could just try not having your first drink until later in the evening than normal. Then keep pushing the time you start drinking back a half hour or an hour. Once you start drinking try alternating with a soft drink. To begin with start counting how many units you are consuming in an evening. Then start setting yourself a target/limit on the number of units you consume in an evening. Once you reach your target in an evening make your next drinking day a lower target.
As your alcohol consumption decreases so will your tolerance.
There are lots of good websites with tips on cutting down.

Thanks Shaggy. I like the plan of delaying the first alcoholic drink until later in the evening, as obviously my will-power is at its strongest when I'm sober!
I've been using an app called Alcodroid for a while now. You put in what drink your having with the volume/percentage etc. and it calculates the number of units and your blood alcohol level. It's been quite useful for realising just how strong some drinks are. I can't believe Smirnoff Ice is 3 units! Luckily I don't drink that very often.
I know how you feel too Maryland Cookie. I felt rubbish last week after a really boozy weekend but am feeling better about myself after the weekend just gone. I went out on Saturday and had a couple of stronger drinks but then managed to switch to gin and tonics for the rest of the night. I was so tired after the party the night before that I left the pub early and was in bed by 11pm, so no hangover there. Sunday I only had 3 drinks in the afternoon, 2 G&Ts and a 3.5% pint of beer, so I felt fine on Monday :j
It seems like if I can't stop drinking completely I just need to change the WAY I drink and that helps alot. Thanks for all the tips/supportStarting 2016 debt-free

Hi All
Not been AF for a few days as had family to stay to celebrate my birthday, also have a few days off work now but plan to be AF tonight as DH taking me out tomorrow for the big day.
TBH I notice that when I have more than a few days heavy drinking I wake up with a pain in my right side and don't sleep well hence the need for a break.
Have a good week all
