Don't hesitate to let me know if I've made a mistake! What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

Thank you so much for that, Shaggy. I cannot tell you how much it meant to me.
I'm very conscious it would be incredibly easy to have a sip and get back into drinking again because each time it would be 'just' a sip, a glass, one night's aberation. I read a lot of sober blogs and one I came across the other day said something like, 'Yeah, okay, I had a beer, but I'm still regarding myself as 20+ days sober because it was only one, and I don't like beer. In fact I never drank it, my tipple was blah blah so it doesn't count.' And then I came across someone who said that they had been sober for 9+ years, and then started again. It's a bit of a facer, knowing that I can't trust myself, ever, to have stopped as I can with smoking - I mean, dear God, how foul is that first cigarette after a few years of not smoking? Yeatch. But red wine, or G&T, my other tipple, that would just taste the way it used to. So, what I'm saying is, the support on this thread has been massively, massively important to me and I wanted to thank everyone, because without you all I wouldn't be where I am and I love being here. Thank you.
PS The person who had the beer is in New Zealand, not on this or any other MSE thread. Sorry - I should have made that clear. Her reasoning, which was what would worry me, was that it didn't count as drinking because she didn't enjoy it. That's not the same thing as having one and being upset about it, at all.Better is good enough.0 -

Well done Honey Bear :T What an achievement!
I've got family over for lunch and had thought I might drink today so had accounted for it in my target. However, I've decided not to so thought if I declare early it will keep my resolve. Declaring 3/20 please.0 -

Have a lovely Easter everybody :j0 -
Evening everyone
3/24 for me. Resisted a glass of wine round at a friend's house this evening. She tried to get me to join her, but I remained firm. It helped that I had to drive home. She also raised her eyebrows at my refusal. I think my drinking may have been more regular, and expected, than I realised. That makes me feel bad.0 -
3/30 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0
