Hi Jimmy - :hello:
4/24 for me - turned down a glass of wine at lunch (hubby again!!!)
Tomorrow might be more tricky as I'm entertaining and cooking an Easter Sunday lunch....0 -
Good luck jimmy*c. Shaggy please can you put me down for 4/24MFIT -T5 #420

Thanks for your reply honey bear. It's slightly awkward but i'm planning on giving up.... It's a shame that I will have to go to family occasions and say "no" when someone offers me a nice cold pint, but I feel that's the only way forward. I have a holiday in Fuerteventura in Septembter, and I may have a few there depending on my progress in the cloudy UK. The main thing is that I disconnect myself from alcohol at home - It is not acceptable any more.
I'd like to get in on this forum, so if anyone could point me in the right direction as far as numbers go, that'd be great.......
.....
Welcome Jimmy. I think that Honey Bear has explained about the numbers pretty well. We are a friendly bunch and nobody judges. We all slip up from time to time but posting on here has supported many of us to maintain our resolve. You will find giver uppers and cutting downers on here. Good luck.0 -

I'm here as a guy with his knees on the floor and his palms up. I've had a bit of an ultimatum. I've been drinking since 2011. It all started as a calm few tinnies watching the Euro's in 2012, but since then, my drinking has got completely out of control. I have alternated between a bottle (or two) of Rose a night, to around 7-8 tins of lager a night for the past 4 years. Over the past few months I have been feeling the "real" me telling me that i'm drifting, that i'm going to waste, but have done nothing about it, shrugging it off thinking everything will be OK. I have an alcohol problem. Tomorrow is going to be the start of something new. It's going to be cold turkey, and it's going to be ridiculously hard, as I quite literally don't know "life" without alcohol. I would like to get in on this thread please, to help track my progress. I've overcome gambling, and i can overcome alcohol abuse. Mods, if you please...
Welcome
I am very, very tempted to join you in stopping completely. I have shown month after month on this thread that, whilst I have managed many more AF days than a couple of years ago, I am really not moving forward and the quantity I am drinking on non AF days is still fairly shocking.
I need to give this careful thought as, if I do it, I absolutely cannot fail otherwise I am screwed. I need some tactics to manage it, coping mechanisms, switches of behaviour etc, and I am guessing you do too
My first job tomorrow is to get some more apple juice and soda water as this makes an excellent substitution for wine.
As of tonight, 3/20 please Shaggy0 -
5/24 for me - no wine opened0
