2/24 AFDs for me for last night.
Yesterday was a much better day, despite mum locking herself in and me out of our apartment (eek). I had to ring her to bring her to the hall so I could talk her through unlocking the latch. Her first reaction, when she couldn't immediately unlock it, was "shall I just leave it then"??? How did she think I was going to get in!
She is definitely getting worse.
Sorry to hear thatIt can't be easy (((hugs)))
Maman - If you can't boast here about your AFness, then where else?! Boast away
Welcome to Miss_Piggy, or welcome back I should say
Hi to all the lurkers reading this! :hello:
1 more for me so 3/21 please. It has been a stressful day and previously, I definitely would have reached for wine and considered it a 'legitimate excuse' but not any more
Progress isn't always about exactly how many AF days we have but breaking bad/unhealthy habits/associations I suppose0 -
Sorry about your Mum, Stachmo.
Brag away Maman! I love hearing success stories. I'm fully intending to lash out and celebrate tonight with a few B'Blues, havng achieved something I've been trying to pluck up the courage to tackle for a whole year - today. Done. Very, very chuffed with myself, and if it leads to anything, that's great, and if not, at least I gave it my best shot.
It was one of the things that I used to put off in my drinking days because I had a hangover or felt tired, or whatever excuse I could dream up to let me off the hook. I had intended to get on a train and go and do it today, but in the end I did it all in the comfort of my own home, in my own office, at my desk. Technically, very straightforward - the difficult bit was making myself do it.
I love how the only two lines everyone knows that quoting Hotel California means - are always those very two, Miss Piggy.
And, while we're in the mood for music, tonight is *Celebration time, come on!*
4/31 please, Soon-to-be-SuperSlim Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -

Welcome back to Miss P! :j
Satchmo, so sorry to hear about your Mum.
I've been reading on here and have decided I will be AF today. I laughed out loud at the Hotel California stuff as on other occasions I've dropped off the thread I've always read everything when I came back so this time I've learnt I can never leave either and have been catching up every day or two.
I'm not wanting a March target yet but will want an April one. I'm in a different time zone this month and originally wanted to break out of my routines when I left the country but have kept this one as per the song.
Have a good evening everyone!0 -
3/24 AFDs. Thanks everyone, I'm going to have some respite mid-March, which will do me and DH good. Mum's very positive about it, saying we need the break. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0

That was my first and only challenge MissP and then I excuse myself for special occasions and holidays. I'm pleased if I can not drink on school nights BUT my attitude has changed. On drinking nights I'm having less and I can stop when I've had enough (novel idea eh??). And if I go out and have a single glass I don't just carry on when I get home. Sorry if that sounds boastful. I was just listing my own little successes for me.:o
My hat is off to anyone like you maman who can take a drink and then be in control over how much they drink.
I tried that for many many years and all the evidence shows me that once I have any alcohol in my body, I then have no control as to when I will stop drinking. It could be 2 drinks or 22 drinks!
My relationship to alcohol is all or nothing, and I have had to choose nothing.0 -
Pleased you will be getting some respite soon Satchmo - it must be very wearing and worrying for you!
Well done to HB for achieving what you've wanted to for so long! Hope you enjoyed the Becks Blue :T
4/31 for me please Shaggy! Hope the weight loss carries on going well. I've got 4 weeks before my holiday to lose half a stone :eek:0 -
Good morning all
Shaggy - please could I go for a target of 18 in March please?? And I'm currently on 3/18
Well done everyone on their AF'ness, sometimes in very trying circumstances. Thursday is food shopping day today - I'm going to make a concerted effort not to put any wine in the trolley. We are off out tomorrow night for a meal for our Wedding Anniversary so will allow myself a couple of glasses of wine the.
Miss P
