The Giving Up/ Cutting Down alcohol support thread - number 13

I think this was it - we had such a tight knit little community of online friends in the same boat at one stage - although the whip joke was just a laugh it felt like you were sort of betraying each other or really letting them down if you had a beer .... does that make sense?
Anyway - have a great day everyone and keep the bottle tops on
BHB x
Yes it does BHB, I gave up smoking with an internet group that was very close (the october 05 butt kickers on quitnet) and I really wouldn't have managed without them. HAven't smoked since. There however the goal of everyone was to quit, stop, pasta. No one was just trying to cut down a bit or only smoke on the weekends so we were all very determined and could be quite 'heavy'.
I remember the debates here and like that now it's more moderate and that cutter downers can feel comfortable too. I hope though that it doesn't stop people who have a grave alcohol problem from coming on here - speaking personally, I'm not sure I would want to divulge all my thoughts and behaviours if I had a really big alcohol problem in a place where others were 'just cutting down a bit'. That's only me though, perhaps I am bit sensitive...Trying to keep in budget.

Evening all
8/31 please shaggy. I was so pleased to see my smiley today
I woke with a bit of a headache and wondered how much I'd had last night. Then remembered I hadn't had anything at all :T:T
My headache soon went once I got busy getting everyone ready for school.
The bells have really been ringing tonight but I have just silenced by declaring now.
Hope everyone is well, looking forward to an AF weekend :j0 -
9/31 AFDs for me. If I have a headache now, I feel I can say "I've got a headache" without worrying that family will wonder how much I had to drink last night. I'm generally a "cutter downer" but it helps me to have a target on here, otherwise I know I'd have more nights with wine than without, even if I fall short of my target.
I spoke to a counsellor on Wednesday this week (stress-related carer issues) and she asked if it was leading to drinking more. When I said I was having a dry January, she admitted to failing already in her attempt. When she rang me back today with some information, she asked how the dry January was going, and was very happy for me that I was still dry. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
Evening all, 8/29 for me here please shaggy.
Absolutely no bells at all tonight after last night's red wine, which is comforting to know! Maybe it's because the next door neighbour's builders were in and drilling through my bedroom wall at 6am this morning  So I'm super tired.0 -
Well I am declaring 6/18 please Shaggy. A surprise AF Friday, that only happens about twice a year!
Good luck for the weekend everyone, I will probably have some wine tomorrow but hope to stick to my plan not to drink on Sundays this month at least.MFIT -T5 #420 -
