10/31 AFDs for me tonight, but if I hadn't committed myself to dry January, I'd have immersed myself in a bottle of red after DH decided he hadn't been a prat in a while and didn't want to get out of practice.

We then had a silent battle over the mince pies: I had one of the three remaining, then he sneaked in and ate the last two (pig, hope he hasn't lost any weight this week).

So, money saved on hooch, no hangover and a slimmer you - Result! Sorry things are tough, but well done for staying strong.

Irritatingly I've woken up with a headache. I suspect I might be a bit dehydrated. I think I'm going to drop from three tea bags in a pot to two - the flavour seems unpleasantly strong and I think I've stopped enjoying drinking it (it's a fruit one.)

    10/31 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.
  • 8/19 now please :)
  • I haven't caught up on here but just to say yesterday was a sober day. I can't claim any credit though as I was hit with a bug. I don't plan to drink today, still too fragile.

    4/14 for me please Shaggy.

I would like to ask on behalf of a friend if anyone has tried any of the spirits from Arkay.

I have had a look at their website and they do seem rather expensive!!

Any advice or recommendations would be great!!

    Thank you in advance!!

Hope you're having a better day today, satchmo.
I'd not heard of alcohol free spirits before, edwink - seems a strange concept to me, but then I suppose it's no different from AF Beer or Wine!
Declaring early again because otherwise I think I could be too tempted this evening; feeling in one of those gloomy, pointless moods that would normally end up with me saying "s0d it!", and opening a bottle of Wine (and finishing most of it!)
    So 11/31 please Shaggy.

Also declaring early (8) as I will not finish the essay if I don't get on with it this evening. At the point were I'm not sure why I signed up to this in the first place as I've found writing a 5,000 word essay is not like in the good old days of being a full time student. Perhaps I'm just out of practise. :rotfl:

Graeme Carter and somebody else have mentioned the "debating" which goes on in our heads. Thank you. This resonated with me and if the debate begins, I usually lose.

So, I had to go to the shop this evening which would usually result in the debating team winning however, I was prepared for it so once it started, I saw it for what it was and decided not to listen!

Such a simple concept but it hadn't occurred to me before to treat this as a separate entity which I had a choice whether to listen to or not. After all, if someone was wittering on nearby about something I didn't want to hear, I would tune out and ignore it, not allow myself to be drawn into it. This is precisely what I did with in the shop, and even allowed myself a glance of contempt at the wine I usually buy! :j

    I won!!! :j

1 more for me please Shaggy
  • 10/29 tonight please. Double figures, woop! :j
Well done fruball :) It's amazing what we can do if we change our perspective on things sometimes!
