I think this was it - we had such a tight knit little community of online friends in the same boat at one stage - although the whip joke was just a laugh it felt like you were sort of betraying each other or really letting them down if you had a beer .... does that make sense?
Anyway - have a great day everyone and keep the bottle tops on

That's a bit drastic isn't it?? They can't have been that bad.:rotfl:I think this was it - we had such a tight knit little community of online friends in the same boat at one stage - although the whip joke was just a laugh it felt like you were sort of betraying each other or really letting them down if you had a beer .... does that make sense?

Totally agree about the accountability and I'm sure that still works. I think everyone has signed up for that sort of 'public' commitment as it helps. I think what was sad about the old thread was that there seemed to be a number with massive drink problems so that 'cutters down' could feel a bit excluded. I think now it's moved more to lifestyle choices which can be giving up or cutting down as the thread name says. I prefer it this way, and still have one poster on ignore from the old days as I hated being preached at but didn't want to leave.0 -

Yes - I know what you mean. It did get 'heavy' a few times didn't it?.
It's now just what I need - an extra bit of motivation.
SO round of applause for shaggy :T
I would like to say I will drink just at weekends - but am aiming for a dry Jan to start with and see where we end up

Afternoon :hello:
1 more AFD for yesterday. I was out for birthday meal for a friend Wednesday, so wasn't AF.
Shocking what's going on in Paris :-(
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
Hello all :hello:
Probably won't have any more AFD's over the weekend but drinking will definitely be 'under control'
Wishing you all a happy (& sober - if that is what you are aiming for) weekend :j0 -

Not been on for a bit, mega tired from work
declaring day 9 today many thanksx
January 2025 - Debt £20,0060 -
9/31 please. I'll declare early because I'm banning myself from the internet for the rest of the day - want to catch up with some reading and TV later with my full attention on it; I'm finding that I'm forever picking up my phone or tablet and surfing favourite sites, and never fully concentrating on what I'm watching or reading, shameful really! So I'm on a ban this evening!
Thank you shaggy for keeping track of us all. Yes, it's a dreadful situation in Paris; scary times we're living in:(
maman I love that this is about lifestyle choice; at the moment I've chosen to have a dry month and that may or may not continue, but it's so nice to know that I choose to factor in non AF days if I wish, and still have the support of, and a place in, the thread:)
grassgirl sorry work has been so tiring; if it's any consolation (probably absolutely not!), I've been thinking myself round in circles trying to work out what I can do to get back into work after being at home faaarr too long! Have to say my prospects don't look great!
Anyhow, have a good afternoon/evening everyone, and thank you all for being so nice and supportive:)0 -
Ellsbel, thanks hun.. I was in a tricky situation myself, sort of fired from my last job, unable to get current references..but kept on being chirpy and eventually after 6 months I found my job
nothing wrong with it, just 6am starts and being single mum it's rather a lot of hassle, all the childminders start at 7am and the babysitters I've spoken to don't take the childcare vouchers, catch 22 and working for no money at mo but I'm sure it will pick up, as it will for you I hope
P.S. following your example and leaving the Internet alone until bedtime tonightJanuary 2025 - Debt £20,0060
