I'm lucky in that I can say to the people around me that I'm having a dry month, and no one really takes much notice! It's really unfair, though, if others try to pressurise you into drinking when you don't want to, and I sometimes think that some do it to feel more comfortable about their own drinking.
I'd just stick to the "I'm really thirsty" line, or say that you simply don't fancy a drink, but, really, you shouldn't have to make excuses; if people have a problem with it then it is their problem to deal with, and not the person who's chosen not to drink!
As for the tiredness, that's a good point honey bear about drinking more water - I'm drinking a lot of coffee and sweet drinks this week and it's probably not hydrating me properly; I'll try more water today - I must say that these past few days have been a struggle; not because I want a drink but because I feel so dreadfully tired. I'd planned an early start today for a really productive day, but I dragged myself out of bed at the last possible moment and after forcing myself through the morning's jobs I feel like I could happily go back to bed and stay there!
Enough moaning from me, though, have a good day everyone x
  • Great advice Honebear..sorry I meant when We first get in the bar hubby buys me a drink (meaning im standing next to him and people like to comment) he's always very good at asking what I would like if anything!

Yes Mil died from Breast cancer and I myself have had a few scares (mum has also had a lumpectomy which im so greatful turned out to be benign)
I'm happy to use real medical reasons to not drink.. I could just say cutting down couldn't I!
Re not sleeping and drinking more water..Ok I pee a lot..and I mean a lot ..but maybe I should change my decaff tea before bed to something more hydrating? If I drink a pint I wont sleep at all lol. Just remembered I have some nytol will try that maybe camomile tea. Not missing drink at all at the mo apart from the humm would love a brandy red mine moment last night.

Anyway off to make lunch have a wonderful day x

7/19 for me please Shaggy :)
  • Hey chaps I'm on day 7 not drinking tonight as have an early start tomorrow so calling an early one.

    Just did this.

Here’s something a bit fun/eyeopener/scary. Put your spends on beer/wine/etc money in here in this handy tool and then tell me you feel guilty about spending money on sober treats.. Just see how much you’re saving!!!

    DEMOTIVATOR
Here’s my result for my old way of drinking.

£2,190.00 wine a year I’m part-time right now, so I have to work 28.3 weeks to pay for it and over my working life I’d have spent £98,550.00 ON WINE if I'd kept going the way I was before I found you lovely guys.

If that doesn’t motivate me to reduce my wine intake or keep stopped I don’t know what will.
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
    :money:Sleeves up folks.:money:

It's probably relatively easy to ask for a soft drink this month as so many people are cutting down/giving up for Dry January. beyond that I think I'd say I really didn't miss it or (in my case) I didn't want the empty calories. Of course, that wouldn't work if you order a pint of coke instead! :rotfl:I think it's probably just a case of braving it out to begin with and then people will get used to it.
3 AFDs for me please Shaggy.

Does Wevverspoons do tea? They certainly do coffee.

They most certainly do - I have tea and hot chocolate in there regularly - not many other pubs do though as I have found out. This is something I really struggle with when going out as I find most soft drinks far too sweet and there is only so much slim-line tonic a girl can drink :p

I will be drinking tonight although it will be a sensible quantity ;)

Thanks as always to Shaggy for keeping the 'scores-on-the-doors' :T

I'm exactly the same so for a treat I have sparkling water and sometimes just plain tap water. I'm a cheap date.;)
