Please help!!!!
I've been off the booze for about 28 hours. I'm finding it nearly impossible to cope. My skin is crawling kind of. I am extremely agitated, itchy, over emotional. I am a real state. I don't think I can go into work today. I didn't sleep even for a second last night. Just laid in my bed worrying incessantly about the tiniest little details of life. Is this a normal part of giving up alcohol?
I was 36 units of alcohol (white wine) per week.
I've now taken a Valium (something I do very rarely) but it's had no effect whatsoever in calming me down
You need to ring your GP. If you can't do it get a friend to call. If you don't have a friend call the Samaritains 08457 90 90 90Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Habits are a tricky old thing to break - however I will continue to keep trying ......
Good morning folksScotdebs - my sentiments entirely!! After drinking practially every night for years it has been an awful lot harder than I thought to break the habit - I definitely need to re-programme my Amygdala!!!!
Still on 8/31 shaggyI didnt manage an AF last night.
Guggul - I am certainly no expert but it sounds as if you need some professional help. Have you been to AA even?

What I hear is that after a day where you had a child protection conference you went on to upset your kids by getting drunk.
Just reflecting back to you what you've written.
From where I'm sitting alcohol is causing big problems in your life.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
In your case it doesn't sound like they will outweigh the one's you've mentioned above.
There does seem to be this belief in society that if you don't drink you are somehow missing out on something amazing. Not sure where that idea came from but I don't buy into it anymore.[/QUOTE]
At the risk of looking uncool at quoting myself!!!
Later last night I carried on reading my book Alistair Campbell - My name is.
I now know where that idea comes from. The alcohol industry spent £85 million on marketing and advertising in 2011.
That's where the idea comes from. Don't believe the hype!!!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
