I haven't added any more a/f days but I am drinking less and I find that has raised my confidence. Maybe you could try reducing your intake before aiming for completely dry days?

Thank you, fortunately I have managed to cut down the amount I drink by quite a margin; still too much though.

Oh no :( Don't give up.....can you reduce by starting drinking later in the day?

Thank you, I stopped day time drinking a while ago so already done that. :)

Alex - it happens to us all from time-to-time - I fully intended being AF last night but did not succeed (I was going to say failed but thought better of it ;)). IIRC you were advised by your doctor to cut down, so any reduction in your alcohol consumption has got to be of some benefit. Don't try and over-stretch yourself (and your willpower) too much. Small steps can lead to great strides!

Thank you, I hope I can really try to cut down over the remainder of this month (perhaps with a few AF days) and aim for a dry February, it is the shortest month of the year, after all and no special occasions to celebrate for us, either.

Come on Alex! You're only 2 days behind me and I'm focusing on the days I've managed and feeling like a champion!

I'm already plotting in my head "excuses" to drink tonight!!

I will not be drinking tonight!

Tomorrow is an allowed drinking day as OH and I are going to say in a Boutique Hotel in London. As usual I have started to mentally add in days before and after to "extend" the holiday! This also applies to ski-ing trips or anything else to justify additional drinking!

With this in mind I am going to call early tonight that I won't be drinking as I couldn't go back on my word to you all! 6/19 AF nights!

Have a lovely weekend everyone and good luck to anyone that may struggle!

    Alex you can do it!

    SPS X

Thank you, I wish I had so much faith in myself. :rotfl:

To be honest, I've had a busy Saturday and haven't really felt like a drink thus far. If this carries on into this evening, I'm not going to have one for the sake of it.

On a different note: you're always on holiday, I won't pretend I'm not slightly envious.

    Morning all :)

No, I've not done a runner :rotfl:

I had a blip then took to my bed with a serious migraine for a few days. Almost human today.

Shaggy, I'm on 12, thank you very muchly :D

    Off to catch up now.

    Xxx
Jo just been reading re help for migraine..put your hands & feet in warm water & a bag of frozen peas on the back of your neck. Apparently the idea is that the blood is drawn to your extremities.
Im willing to try anything :)
    18/31 please Shaggy
  • 18/31 for me tonight please.

Am developing a taste for Becks Blue.

Tonight is the first night I've properly thought a glass or two of wine would've been lovely with dinner. I won't though. I think it's my body saying, 'ok brain, you've made your point now let's gat back to normal', but until my arms and legs can be trusted not to go on autopilot and not go and get drink and lift it to my lips before I know what's happening, the ban remains.

18/31 AFDs tonight. Internet connection was off last night, so couldn't check in.

I have never had such a tidy house, as a result of the fact that I'm not befuddled by a hangover for the majority of the time. I think I need to find a hobby to keep me occupied in the evenings. Actually, I should go to the gym that I'm paying for but haven't visited for two months.

Don't give up on giving up (or cutting down), it's a journey which sometimes includes cul-de-sacs that we have to turn around and come out of onto the road. Taking the scenic route is much more enjoyable when we can clearly see the view (i.e. it isn't blurred by drink).
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

    6/15 for me please

Can't believe how long it's been.

Things that I'm enjoying: not having that horrible feeling hit you, the second you wake up the morning after.
    Saving money
My eyes looking healthier and not bloodshot
Knowing I'm getting enough sleep, I've always thought the quality of sleep after drinking is so much lower. It's having to work all night to get that poison processed.
My house is cleaner and I've kept up with exercising because I've found my motivation and willpower again
Not constantly planning how I'll fit a drink in on different situations, odd thinking how pleased id be when going somewhere and finding they serve alcohol (ikea, country park for family day, softplay!)
I've seen my friends more this week as I've been able to drive, rather than being over the limit by 4.30 every evening

Wish everyone the motivation they need to keep going
LBM January 2017 £34k will have paid back finally by my DFD May 2021
got my first store card on my 18th birthday, never known a life without the grey cloud of debt looming over me. 18yrs and the end is finally in sight 🤩

Football is the biggest threat to my sobriety! I stayed strong and on diet lemonade though, with a hot chocolate before bed.

Calling 19/31 here as I'm having a pj day, going to get off this sofa and do some ironing soon, honest...

That's what DH just said. He'd love a cold beer watching footy this afternoon but he won't.
