Morning all
9/16 AFDs - today should bring me into double figures0 -
Thanks for all the birthday wishes
I did hesitate before committing to Dry January, worried how I'd feel being AF on my birthday. Especially as there is so much social pressure to celebrate with alcohol. But it was way easier than I had anticipated.
I considered buying a small bottle of wine, imagined doing it. In the end I made the decision not to, and consciously making that decision felt really powerful. It's in my hands
I'm on 15/31 please Shaggy0 -

Belated birthday wishes to you and congratulations on staying AF on your birthday :T. I don't think I would have the same willpower.

You helped me change my life - and I'm sure you've done the same for many other people here, be strong and positive.
Huge ((((hugs))))
Thankyou to everyone who makes this such a wonderful, inspiring thread - I'm sure there are many other lurkers like myself who find it invaluble, thankyou.....and Shaggy - as always - you are a legend
What a lovely post thank you!
I'm out of hospital.....would be lieing if I said i felt great!!
But my god, facing mortality is an eye opener.
This is your life folks!!! Make the choice if you want to spend it sober, drunk, or battling the urges. I chose sober. Best decision I ever made.
Just a pre warning...as you know I usually say it how it is and this facet of me is in overdrive at the moment. ust stick me on ignore if you can't take me!

I typically start the day with a glass of white wine for breakfast
Well done for admitting it. Brave move. I find a lot of alcohol's power weakens when we let other know how strong a grip it has on us.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

That's worked for me this week too. I know I've got stuff on next week but I reasoned I wasn't going to waste any potential AF days (I know that's every day for some:o) so needed to be firm with myself.
6 AFDs please Shaggy.0 -
Morning :hello:
1 more AFD.
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0
