I'm not counting my chickens but I've managed 5/6 so far. Thank you everyone who gave me such a warm welcome and I will be carrying on into August.

I'm reading this thread from Page 1 at a rate of about 10 pages a day, and after I've brought myself up to date I'll go back and read previous ones. I can't face the thought of joining a real life group in a dusty village hall or coughing up to join the women's website specialising in this. Everyone's posts help - the first mantra I've adopted is 'Sobriety delivers everything alcohol promised.' So thank you to whoever first put that up on this forum thread and to everyone else who has reposted it.

I don't get cravings, and the good news is that across January and February I managed 20 AF days in a row trying to do the 100 day challenge. I fell at the 'What to drink with pizza?' hurdle, but after last Friday, drinking is no longer an option. It feels completely different this time, very much like the final attempt to give up smoking after wanting to be a non-smoker for 27 years - seven years ago. If I could do that, I can do this.

And I finally got a good night's sleep last night.
    Better is good enough.

Still a chance for one more tomorrow satchmo. Hope the trip to the kitchen place goes well. Is this for your new apartment?

Hi Maman, yes this is for our new apartment. DH and DS2 (DH's stepson) made fantastic progress yesterday in ripping out the old kitchen and transporting it to the tip.

DS2 did me proud - he was offered payment by DH for a days work and refused saying it was payback for all the help we had given him. My plan now is to pay him half the amount offered and write off the other half from his debt.

    Hi All

I Hope you are all well. I have been really busy since coming back off holiday mid-July – seems alifetime away now but I had a fantastic time. I drank too much on the all inclusive but not so much that I had ahangover any day, I knew when to stop. I am now ready to get back on the wagon, Iam only managing 1-2 AF nights a weekjust now & the lovely weather doesn’t help, makes me want to reach for thewine even more. I plan my first AF tonight& August target will be 20 AF Days please Shaggy. I won’t get a chance to get caught up withthe thread but I see Honey Bear has joined :hello: (know you from Flylady) which I need to joinagain!!

You sound like you are in the right frame of mind for this honeybear - well done on the AF days so far :T.

Thanks for the encouragement maman - you have given me the push I needed to get that extra smiley and I am declaring early (something I never do on a Thursday ) on 14/12 AFDs.

Welcome back on the wagon macpep :)

Ooh - a new kitchen satchmo - how exciting :j and that is a lovely gesture to your DS2 and very good of him to work for free too.

Have a good day everyone x

    Hi Macpep!

Reading from the start of this thread, I have to say there is someone else who I recognise, but I wasn't sure if acknowledging them would be considered 'outing' them and thus bad manners. The Flylady Thread has been a real turning point in my life and now that I know that being a Forumite can work miracles, I'm willing to put my faith in this thread for the support I know, at some point, I'm going to need. Yesterday I was really disappointed that it was the 30th and I couldn't call the six days a victory! As I've never enjoyed the feeling of being tired (and emotional) after day-time drinking, I only have to work on the bit from about 8.00pm to 8.45pm when we eat the main meal of the day. If I don't have the first one ....

Ending the month with 14/12. Pleased to have beaten my target which I kept deliberately low as knew I'd drink on holiday.

Have to look at August target now I suppose!

Sorry I forgot the colour and can't edit the colour on an iPad (or can't work out how to).

    Should read 14/12

ending the month without reaching target, boo.

Please can I set a target of 20 AFDs for August, and I'll try to de-stress by running instead of drinking wine.

Didn't hit my target this month, though I was away on holiday and had my birthday, so not all bad. 25/27 AFDs in total.
