Morning :hello:
2 more AFDs.
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
Hi!
I know Im coming in late for the January challenge, but may I join? I have spent many years happily drinking, and then the last year decided it was a bit concerning I wasn't able to go more than a day without a drink. I have really really cut down, and feel very excited I might be breaking free of the chains.
As there are 19 days left of January, could I pledge 15 AF days please? With today being my first?
Pushing out thefor you and you're on the list. Good Luck!

Please could I join this challenge? I have read through all the posts from #1 and found them all to be very encouraging. I wouldn't have said previously that I had a drink problem but I certainly enjoy a drink and dread the nights I know I can't.
However, I have manahed 8 days so far this is my 8th day on the run and I hope to get to the end of Jan alcohol free! You're on the list. I have put you down for a target of 26 for the month of Jan. Hope that's right.

Morning all,
Some fantastic posts on here at the moment :T.
Beth, I had a similar experience with my OH when I first decided to cut down drinking - mainly for the same reason as you, to be healthier and lose weight - at first he tried to get me to eat & drink the same things as him, I think he felt a bit insecure that I was trying to change our lifestyle. Once he realised that things weren't going to change dramatically he settled down and was fine about it - he even keeps me on the straight and narrow now by helping me choose 'healthy options' when we go out.
I am intending to have an AF day today but won't declare just yet as we have friends round for dinner tonight and I'm not 100% sure on how strong my willpower will be
Have a good day everyone0 -

Been there myself scotdebs with only 3 or even less AF days a month. No more AF day here to report but hopefully tomorrow will be one. I have no idea what is up with me....I should be over mum by now but i'm not..
She died 6th April 2012 but it still feels like yesterday. I still have nightmares where I see her on her deathbed...especially the the one where she tells me to stop smoking..then get out.....That wasn't a nightmare..that was true. I drink cos if I don't, all i see is my mum's face but as she was when she was dying with a cross in her hands and not looking like she was really.
Surely the nightmares should have stopped by now?
I also have had severe panic attacks, palpitations, and been unable to drive since mum died.......probably mostly to do with alcohol... I have had bereavement and other councelling.
That's really awful. I really feel for you. What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
