  • Well no more a/f days to report however a step in the right direction last night. I bought and drank 25% less than usual.

This resulted in my going to bed early and reading for a while, instead of going to bed later and 'passing out'. The downside is I woke at 1am and couldn't get back to sleep, this as we all know is part of the deal to get off the booze so that's just something we all have to get on with.

I'll continue with this amount until I feel i'm strong enough to take the next step down. I've promised myself I won't step back up again.

    Feeling happy :j

    12/31 for yesterday, please.
  • 9/25 AF days for me after last night. Certainly wasn't going to drink last night after how Saturday made me feel.

Time to get back on track now, fresh week fresh start. Have been neglecting exercise lately.

But I do have a nicely decorated shiny new office! Carpet arrives today, doesn't take a lot to make me happy :rotfl:

Again fantastically inspirational posts to read through - well done everyone whether you stayed AF or not - the fact that you are posting on here means you are trying :j

I didnt have an AF weekend. I have not kept my end of the bargain in supporting DD with her Dryathalon and staying completely AF BUT I did have had much less than I would have had normally and I am proud of that :)

I used the methods I have learned on here and boy do they work (well for me anyway).

Friday night = 1 glass of red wine (small bottle)
(Im really sorry I cant remember who advised this but it was to only have this in the house, not economical but definately worth it) :)
Saturday night = 1 normal bottle of wine, night in with the girlies!!
(I used Amygdala's function to stop my hand to mouth function and rationalise if I wanted the next glass of wine and why - I know, I know Im a bore...but it works for me) :)
Sunday = 1 glass of red wine (small bottle), followed by an applejuice cocktail
(great plan to have the apple juice and soda water in the house):)

Friday and Sunday night I drank the small bottles on my own - I have to confess I really do enjoy this, simply because I feel this is my time to chill and reflect on the day - this method of not drinking alone would be the hardest to give up - am I deluding myself??!! :(

    Shaggy Im still on 8/31

Have a great day everyone :grouphug:

I think it was me that mentioned the small bottles - I find they are a great way of controlling my wine intake :T

Like you, I had one small bottle on Friday night and then half a standard bottle Saturday night & Sunday night so much less than usual ;)

Back to being AF today - I know I am not going to have any alcohol tonight so I am going to declare very early and make it 6/15 please Shaggy.

Well no more a/f days to report however a step in the right direction last night.

    :T and I joined you.

After Saturday's unpleasant experience with the Sauvignon tasting like vinegar (it was Sainsbury's Taste the Difference so should have been better) I couldn't face it yesterday. All I had (as I missed out at Christmas) was two very sedate glasses of ginger wine:o then I switched to tea.

I'm calling in now as I'm definitely not having a drink today.

    3 AFDs please Shaggy.
  • So, there I was yesterday, feeling supremely confident that the good news would carry me through but by evening my Amygdala had worn me down and I succumbed!

Still, taking my own advice; I've acknowledged, accepted and will try not to repeat! I notice that the more AFDs I have, the worse the hangovers when I don't: is that just me?

Well done to Judi et al for their AFDs, and to Maman and NYNS for their progress, to quote Tesco (I don't believe I'm doing this!), "Every little helps!"

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.
