    Hello Everyone......

Sorry I haven't checked in for a while, but I have been dreadfully busy.

You see.............I bought a lovely old pub & restaurant!

I know you are all looking at the screen in utter disbelief given my history with alcohol with bingeing and forcing myself to stop for a night or two and leaning heavily on this forum to get me through periods of abstinence.

So, we took over the pub last summer. Essentially it was a dying pub in a fantastic building and after putting in 16/18 hour days - every day - over the ensuing months, myself and my business partner have turned it around into a really busy bar/restaurant.

One of the decisions we made in the run up to getting the pub was that we would not drink whilst we are trading. Oestensibly it means I can't have a drink until after 11pm most nights & Mn at weekend. We are generally in bed by 12.30pm so a couple of stiff gins or 2/3 pints is all I can fit into my day! It is not a recommendation by AA I should't imagine to get a pub to reduce your alcohol intake but somehow it is working for me.

I try to have a few nights per month where I have nothing alcoholic at all but I now would like to string a few AF days together.....

    Calling in 2 AF

Now I am heading back to read what you've all been up to.

:hello:Great to see you back manpants !:hello:
We've had some good tips for cutting down over the years but buying a pub has to be a first. I do hope you and your OH are well and happy. :)

I'M reading through the forum since my last posting which was early August, which makes sense date wise as thats when my life changed. I'm up to early November now. :T:T:T

I'm resting on the bed with my laptop drinking soda and I'm smiling at the screen and occasionally getting a tear as I belatedly share your (life and AF) victories and worries over the last 11 months. I'm struck by what a lovely little community we are all part of and that is just wonderful.

Thank you for mentioning me and making references to the fact I'd disappeared. It was really touching. All my old favs still posting and lots of new names too. I especially smiled at the app idea to show us how drunk and awful we look as a night of drinking may progress.

Fantastic to see you're back and ok MP. I did wonder if you were e as you disappeared so suddenly. I actually thought of you in the last week so I'm chuffed you are well.

Have you given up your high powered job for the pub? Well done for turning it around that's a brilliant achievement.

13/18 for me. I need to go straight through to Saturday to make target as on holiday from Saturday.

I, too, read rightwing newspapers online PSL and Maman, but only to find out what the enemy is doing. Nothing on God's earth would allow me to put a penny piece towards editor Mr Dacre's rag or any of Mr Murdoch's. OH gets free copies of The I at his health club so that's the only papery newspaper we read. The Guardian and the Huffington Post online when someone flags up a relevant peice but I don't go looking for them. People keep flagging up articles in The Economist and the New York Times but they're behind paywalls so although I can read the comments I can't get to the article itself. No-one I know ever flags up anything from the Telegraph, the Sun or the the Mirror.

Welcome back Man Pants! I'm so glad you're doing so well, and thrilled that you've found a way of cutting down! It's unorthodox but if it works for you it doesn't matter what anyone else things about it. You were missed, as you know, and we do wonder and worry what's happened to people - currently I've been thinking about Satchmo and wondering how she's doing and you were often in my thoughts. And I agree - this is the most amazing thread for support and friendship, full of kind people.

    24/31 please, Shaggy.

DH is always reading me bits from the Sun online HB. Generally it's about which of our players Liverpool plan to buy next!:rotfl:

Hoping for a good week ahead. I'm not planning to go out until Friday evening (with eating and drinking involved) so it should be good for my AF score and hopefully my waistline too.:)

    11 AFDs please Shaggy.

welcome-home-blue-&-red-150x150.jpg and Good Luck with your new business.

    You're on the list.
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

I've put on too much weight over the last year - over a stone :( - not sure why - but I've just started to up my exercise over the last week - and I probably need to keep away from chocolate and cheese too!

Good Luck with the diets everyone.
