When I came back from my holiday to a chest infection that took a couple of months to get rid of it left me feeling really low. I'm also trying to rethink what I do with my time as I find it difficult to find a happy medium between working too hard and doing nothing! Mindlessly slobbing on the sofa with a glass of wine is NOT an option!

I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling *bleurgh* after kicking the chest infection into touch. Do you think it might be partly to do with Seasonal Affective Disorder? It's something I have to guard against every year, although now I have a dog and actually get outside regardless of how grey and overcast it is. I find it's nowhere near as crippling as it used to be when I went to work and came home in the dark, and never left the building for a minute once I was there. Just a thought.

As to what to do with your time, I can see where the hobby of 'Mindlessly slobbing on the sofa with a glass of wine' is no longer attractive and needs to be replaced with something more engaging and fulfilling. Luckily for me that's reading but it can take a while for us to realise what we get a kick out of. How about paragliding? That'd get you off the sofa, and while you're up there admiring the view your hands are too busy to hold a glass.

Thanks HoneyBear. I don't post much as busy in RL. I've only set small targets for November and December as away in November and too many events in December. Planning on Dry Jan and Feb until my birthday in March. I'm full of admiration for you being AF though :T
It doesn't matter how big or small the targets are, you're doing it and that's what's important. I love the way you just get on with it.

Thank you for your kind comment - after two and half years since I stopped I can honestly say it's up there with the best two or three decisions I've ever made. I wish I'd realised how fulfilling a sober life would be, and how straightforward the process of stopping was once I'd made my mind up that's what had to happen. I honestly don't advocate it for anyone unless they really want to be free of it, but it was absolutely necessary for me. I'm just very, very lucky that the support I had was there for me, especially all of the contributers on this thread and the lovely Shaggy for keeping scores.

    13/31 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.

Managed an AF night because I was driving to the works Christmas do, the drinks were mega cheap and everybody was taking full advantage but most of them lost the whole weekend and I was up early and Christmas shopping as planned - I really enjoyed the evening and had a laugh with everybody sober or not so it was a good lesson learnt that you don't need to drink to be sociable and when people know you're driving they don't push it.

Calling in early tonight to make the massive total of 4/10 for December so far.

27/01/14 Officially Debt Free - except mortgage which I'm working on!
