Poor Lulabelle, sorry to hear you feel awful after last night. Hugs in your direction.

CuppaTea, glad your acquaintance is fine about it. Funny how we can agonise over something and then get a huge sense of relief when the other person forgives. All that angst wasted.

I did get a bit drunk at my work Christmas lunch but hit the stop button, headed home early evening and guzzled lots of water so feeling ok. A big improvement on my two day hangover last year.

    Still on 2/10.

Well done WannaBeFree! It's really hard stopping after a few so lesson well learned there!

didn't manage to not drink at xmas do last night. Feeling awful today. I really do need to give up for good.

I think I had about 10 years of thinking that pretty frequently before I actually knocked drinking on the head once and for all. All I can say is I wish I'd done it sooner, because although it's tough finding your own way through the first few days, and then negotiating a strategy with myself for the next few weeks - it was do-able.

It wasn't as hard as giving up smoking, it just took a bit of thinking about how to avoid the temptation, finding something else I could drink all evening and a bit of creating new habits to take the place of old ones.

We're working on it. I'm pleased your situation has been resolved.

    11/31 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.
  • I've done 8/18 as yesterday was no drinking and should now be able to do it until we go to nyc on saturday but I will, at least, be with the boy who isn't a big drinker so should be able to only do a couple of drinks a day in nyc (plus with exchange rate being so horrific we want to save money!)

    6/15 for tonight please.

Far too ambitious. 1 work lunch, 1 friend moving away party.
Would have liked to have skipped the party but this friend has seen me through some dark days and it was an atmosphere I would have struggled not to drink in. Being naturally shy has a lot of drawbacks.
December is a hard season on the drinking But I do feel this is a big improvement on last year.

Thankyou to everyone posting. It is really helpful to read how other people are getting on and that i am not alone in my battle.

6/16 tonight please. And not quite sure what my I pad and/or the forum is doing but I thanked a lot of threads and then they seemed to disappear. Ah well I tried. Pleased after 2 days of a drink in the evening I managed to not drink tonight especially after a long drive when normally I would want some wine to relax. I am trying with tea instead.

I do think this is a hard time of the year to cut down on drinking with lots of work events and drinks flowing. Driving is always a good excuse but it is not always possible to have the car with you!
