I use the vacu vin type which is about £8. If I'm sober enough to remember, stoppered wine keeps happily for a few days. Not that it lasts that long in this house very often. :)

My OH had a glass of red wine last night that was from a bottle of wine vacued 2 or 3 weeks ago - but the bottle only had a small glass taken out of it (don't know if that makes a difference). Tasted fine he said.
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

I'm ashamed to say I haven't had an AF day since last Monday. Tuesday was planned and then I just drifted into the rest of the week and then the weekend. Nothing major, but the worst weekly total I've had for years.:o

Fresh start today and must do better.:D

    1 AFD please Shaggy.

Most unlike you, Maman, so I hope you're not sickening for something.

    Afternoon :hello:

3 AFDs for September to yesterday and this my 10th CFD (Chocolate Free Day).
    Shaggyx

I'm seriously impressed! The good news for me is that I've managed to turn the juggernaut around without going without chocolate (hurrah!) and am starting to shed the excess me at the hoped-for rate in the nick of time and on a Low GI regime.

Yes, it does. It's the oxygen that can get to the wine that's the problem so the fuller the bottle, the less air, the more chance of it being drinkable. The other thing that affects wine is temperature - leave a bottle of red or white open and out in the kitchen overnight in the middle of the summer or the depths of the winter when the central heating's on, and it'll turn within a couple of hours. At the hottest part of the year I'd even put open red in the fridge. (I used to work in wine bars - ironically before I drank - and one of the owners gave me a masterclass on how to keep opened wine so that it was as drinkable the next day. Bear in mind we were not selling it to connoisseurs, just appreciative Joe Public. Never had a glass of wine sent back in the time I was there, either.)

5/30 please, Shaggy, with grateful thanks for the scoring.
    Better is good enough.

    :rotfl:
Quite the opposite HB. When I was unwell I went right off drinking.

I think it was just a case of 'because I could'. I'd exceeded my target and so I gave myself some slack but I'm back on the wagon now.:)
  • Hi All,

Please can I go target free for September?
Great to hear people's successes and people still plugging away.

I've drunk way too much over the past couple of weeks but I still want to cut down/give up.

I have a swimming course starting tomo (Tuesday) night and yoga starting next Thursday so hopefully that might help with a gradual reduction.

Love and luck to everyone xx

    3/24 AFDs today
  • I'm declaring early for tonight so that's 1/10 for me please Shaggy.

You are doing brilliantly on the chocolate free days too.

Maman, well done for nipping the slippery slope in the bud. I keep letting a week like that roll over into the next and before too long there aren't enough days left in the month again.

I was feeling fragile ang hungover this morning. A combo of beer, wine and no dinner was not a good one. Scraped through but felt bleary. At least I'm not compunding it with more tonight.

    3/20 for tonight please.
  • 2/12 please Shaggy. Well done on your own AFDs and CFDs.
No sign on Manpants yet, hope you're all right MP.
Good luck for the month everyone.
