Well done on the 13 days you've achieved so far, ManPants. It really is important to recognise that you achieved something massive by not drinking on those 13 days.
I can't say that it'll get easier because I honestly think that stopping and starting and stopping and starting and stopping and starting (rinse and repeat as necessary) gets harder not easier. What eventually feels easier is the simplicity of just stopping, and tough as it is to suck it up, I think you might find it would work better for you. I don't advocate it at all unless you really want to, and if you're not ready to commit, then don't beat yourself up about it.
What helped me to stop was knowing that if I didn't, and we had another night like the last night I drank, that would be the beginning of the end for OH and me. My behaviour was that bad and it wouldn't have magically improved with alcohol in the mix.
I also think that trying to get fit with the extreme gym thing, the dieting and tackling the booze thing all at the same time would be too much for most people. Some years ago B00ts the chemist started a new year resolution support idea called 'Change one thing' and I adopted it as a sort of mantra. I've never tried to do more than one thing at a time since, and it's made a huge difference.
Hang on in there, ManPants. It's clear you're struggling, but that's only because you want to be more in control over your own life, and that in itself is a great start.
Maman, I honestly don't think anyone cares enough to be concerned about my not drinking after they've had one or two, so that's probably why I don't get hassled about it. I do, however, think that there is quite a high chance that more than one person has seen me drink AF beer and is convinced that it's got alcohol in it, so that would make me a liar. I don't really care about that; again, that would say more about them than me. I hope you don't get given a hard time because you choose not to booze - at the end of the day it's none of their business, is it?
 Hi Dizzy! You have been missed. Good to hear you've stayed off the sauce. I hope you feel better for it and if the sugar cravings have lessened, it sounds as though you're on the right track.
26/31 please, Shaggy and 31 again for August. Thank you, once again, for keeping score; it's much appreciated.Better is good enough.0 -
Sorry to hear you're struggling MP but I'm sure you're better off posting than hiding away. What's the plan? Are you going to start afresh straight away or wait until August (i.e. next Monday)? How are you doing with the diet/exercise programme? Are you at a target weight? I'm sure a plan is the way forward.:)
No intention of drinking today.
25 AFDs please Shaggy.0 -
Morning all, 12/15 for me please - went on a long and boozy lunch yesterday with friends and am quite groggy today, looking forward to four whole days off.0

Honey bear, congratulations on 2 years - you're doing so well and I find your posts on here really helpful.
Still on 1/11 here so I haven't been posting although I've been reading everyone's news on here. There was a holiday and then a weekend away. And then I kept going. One hangover, some of the rest have been very moderate.
Shaggy, please may I have a target of 10 for August.0 -
Another 2 nights AF for this week (Sun/Mon) so I am up to 9/16 for Jul so far. My challenge is to get through to Friday still AF, so my battle with Wine Wednesday and Thirsty Tuesday and Thursday is about to begin....
Thank you to Honey Bear, Maman and Arkers for your responses to my previous post. My problem is that I enjoy drinking alcohol, I like the taste of certain drinks, I find it relaxing, I don't normally drink too much, but I am sure it must impact on my sleep/well-being the next day must be negative.
I am really struggling with the fact that I know what I need to do and I think drink is just part of a bigger picture - know I need to cut back, I know I need to exercise more etc, I just struggle with getting round to it. I won't go into details on here, but I am struggling with a number of things at the moment, not just cutting down the booze.
Unlike HB, I don't think there is a short trigger window for me, I struggle all evening with reaching to the fridge. I do drink at home, but we have so many bottles of wine in the garage that it will take me a long time to get through it all and I am NOT going to throw it out!!! I have had the willpower in the past, I just need to find it again.
I'm going to set my target for August at 18. An I am going to try my hardest to do it/get closer. In the meantime I want to get to 12 this month if I can, which means Tue/Wed/Thu AF and a string of 5 consecutive daysWhat goes around comes around.....I hope!0 -
15/20 for tonight please.0
