It is incredibly hot today, in some bizarre way too hot for drinking! Happy I am on the refreshing and cool ginger beer.0

Glad to hear you're not tempted, Maman. I hope that doesn't mean you're still feeling grot, but if you are *more healing vibes* for you.Lotstogain wrote: »Basically - 12/21 days not including tonight yet ..
Last week I managed ok at home but out 'on the town' with the OH was really difficult. I started out with just a tonic water but all I could think was "I'm not drinking alcohol and I really want to".
Anyway, good news is that I stopped at the 3 G&Ts and didn't have wine back at OH's which is a killer for me. So I probably consumed less alcohol last week than I have done for about 7 years. ( I managed to give up for about 12 weeks back then). Another plus note is I've tried out a recipe for an AF mojito (with ginger ale, apple juice, mint and lime) and it's very drinkable with a healthy sort of 'kick' feeling to it.
As Maman says, LotsToGain if you planned 21 days AF, you were planning on drinking on about 10 days, so you're on track, aren't you? Well done on the 12 days AF you've managed so far. And as you were planning on drinking, you may just as well enjoy them, guilt-free.
As to not drinking when you feel tempted, the only way it works for me is to stick with the AF drinks I know I enjoy. My tipples of choice were but I've never been able to find anything similar I could stomach. The one drink I didn't like was beer, so it's very strange that my saving grace for the past (nearly) two years has been AF beer. Most pubs or restaurants stock it and it's always served cold, so it feels perfect on days like yesterday when it's hot and I want something chilled, long and I always have four in the fridge. (When I forget a couple of ice cubes does the trick.) Good luck with it.
19/31 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -
9/15 for me today please Shaggy.
Many thanks, as ever.

So onwards and ... sideways?
Really well done Lotstogain.
I have been failing miserably. Day long hangover today on the hottest day of the year. Went out last night & drove and for some reason when we got back i decided (at midnight) to have a glass of red wine with the OH as we discussed future plans.
BIG meeting tomorrow.
Anyway, before I knew it I was finishing my second bottle. Usual story of me sitting up on my own drinking. Luckily I must have missed the bottles of Gin in the fridge every time i got the white out of the fridge (nicely mixing red & white!).
Have taken my last tablet that will make me projectile vomit if I mix alcohol with it so there is no chance of waivering tonight. I'd already started plotting & planning a few stiff gins on the terrace which would have led onto god knows what.
I'm sitting here with my bottom lip quivering. I can't believe i'm doing so badly. I know all the answers for not drinking then do.
Anyway, def won't drink tonight courtesy of the meds so 12/29 AF. Wish I had 1000 more of these tablets.
Hugs Everyone.

ManPants, you're not doing badly overall though! You've done more AF days this month than I have (for instance). You've made such fabulous progress. I think some failures are to be expected along the way (well that's my experience, anyway). Onward and upward0
