Hi Arkers! I've been on holibobs to Portugal,

How did you rate Porto? (it's on my wish list of places to visit) Did you get to any of the Porto beaches or any of the one's near by?
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

    Welcome back HoneyBear.

Pleased to say that last night was 8/28 AF.

Have 2 social functions this weekend. One of them is dinner out with about 10 friends, none of whom know of my alcohol problem. Or at least that I've recognised I have one and am doing something about it. Told OH last night I shall drive as it is a good taxi ride away so that gets me out of that one. Sunday will be more problematic as it is a birthday lunch out with other friends and in a local, traditional pub in town. One of the last times I succumbed to alcohol was this exact group in this exact pub on a Sunday lunch which went on and on and on and in hour 4 I crumbled. OH won't be wanting to leave the gathering early and I've utilised endless excuses before. At the same time I don't want to make any announcements or label myself to everyone forevermore as "alcoholic". Bah!!

6/20 for me including last night.

Since coming back from holiday I am finding it difficult to stay AF during the week. I seem to be able to resist until Wednesdays, then cave in. I need to try and address that next week.

I intend to keep myself busy each night next week. Last night I got home and the power was off so I found other things to do, then when it came back on I finished my holiday ironing (delayed due to the washing machine breaking down!). Normally my holiday clothes sit around for weeks waiting to be ironed, so I am pleased I have it all out of the way already. Attacking the gardening this weekend if it stays fine.
What goes around comes around.....I hope!

Still stuck on 5/20, the warm weather seems to encourage lack of willpower! Lame excuse I know. Still hoping to reach target though. Hope everyone else is doing ok and good luck for the rest of the month.

    Morning All

Feeling lovely & clear headed this morning. Very easily could have succumbed to prosecco last night then everything else thereafter.
Luckily I didn't, although I did eat some pate on wafer biscuits I shouldn't have done then had potatoes with my steak then a mini magnum ice cream as well when we caught up on a boxed set DVD we are watching. Alcohol success & diet fail but it is only one day and I am back fitting into my most fitted tapered shirt which doesn't allow for anything other than the flattest of abs. Its ridiculous really, try on a shirt in the afternoon, find it fits so pig out later!

    9/28 AF so far.

    Have a great saturday!

MP - you're so funny! I only wish I knew if I had any abs :rotfl:

Another day to clock up AF, so 6/30 for yesterday please Shaggy x

On Thursday I made 3/10 after committing on here. Day 3 is always harder for me - anyone else find that? My sleep was very heavy without the booze and I wanted to sleep more.
I was out last night and had alcohol. Feeling fuzzy headed and lazy this morning. My next planned AF days are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

I could have written all that wbf but for me it seems to be the fourth day or Thursdays. I'm always pleased with myself if I manage the 4 in a row. Same here with the slightly fuzzy head but it's passing off now ready for more when footie starts.;)

Shame about the 'diet fail' MP but great news about the AFness. Do they make elasticated shirts?:D

Porto is lovely and the beaches are fab. They can also be very, very dangerous so you'd need to pick the ones you'd want to swim from really carefully and take note of the seastate. They're long, sandy and well-served by the local infrastructure generally so if you're into beach holidays, it's just the place. Sadly for us the hotel we chose was in a 100% modern developed area so no little family restaurants or independent shops, but we found exactly what we were looking for when we were there - the area between Nevogild and Foz de Duoro looks just right for us next time. It's no cheaper than Lisbon btw.

When I was still drinking I'd be fine to stay sober or even off the booze sometimes for a couple of nights and then I always found myself getting hammered on the third night. Hopeless.

    11/30 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.
