But I have got friends visiting and then am going to Glastonbury festival next week ... I don't know if staying a/f is possible.
I posted around December on DFW when I realised that my spending was out of control. I'm reducing debt slowly and generally stopped credit card spending but alcohol and food are the weaknesses. Looking forward to joining you if you'll have me!! Any suggestions for a starting point welcome ..
Welcome aboard, LotsToGain! When I joined this thread I honestly thought it would take a miracle for me to stick with it, but much to my surprise: it's worked. Stick with it, post every day and if I had one tip it would be - find an alcohol-free drink that you like and plan ahead to make sure that it's available. I've been known to ring pubs and restaurants where we're due to meet friends to make sure they've got some. One of them told me to bring my own! You'll be surprised at how much support there is out there.Lotstogain wrote: »So far I have done 6/13 A/F days but the ones with alcohol have been unacceptably heavy.
Six AF days are a lot more than I managed in the months before I gave up, so what you've already shown that is that you can pay down the debt, stop using credit cards and drink less. Woohoo!
If, like the rest of us, you get a wobble 'fess up and move on. The saddest thing on this thread is people who post once and then we never hear from them again. I wish they knew how much a wobble or two doesn't, actually, matter in the long term.Wanna_Bee_Free wrote: »I should be on track for another booze free day as I planned, in spite of having a bad day.
Sorry to hear you had a bad day, WBF, (((hugs))) and :T for staying strong.
14/30 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -
Morning all! It's 7/15 for me today and not just that, I've also reached 100 AFDs out of my target for this year of 200, so am officially half-way through!!!!! :j :A Hurrah!!0

Sage advice I think HoneyBear!
I echo what HB said about keep posting & keep coming back LotsToGain. I've previously attended AA where people have droned on & on and I've sat and not said a word for entire meetings for fear of sounding boring or forcing people to listen to me. This forum you can log in whenever and if someone doesn't want to read your post they can move on so you have a freedom that isn't always in other arenas - if you were to feel self conscious.
AF for yesterday and again tonight taking me to 13/28 AF. Thanks Shaggy.
